A picture in the book 'The District Controller's View - The M&SWJR' shows the Southampton - Cheltenham train on the 4th of August 1956. The manor hauling it had failed at Ludgershall and had to replaced by the engine on the local goods train, which was a 2251 class engine. The train had been strengthened from 3 coaches to 8 coaches, and was over the limit for a 2251 class loco, however no other engine was available at Ludgershall or Swindon, so the 0-6-0 took the train all the way to Cheltenham. The book shows the train at Cirencester.
The identifiable coaches are of GWR design (Hawksworth,Collett,Collett).

On the Mortonhampstead branch line list, the station at Lustleigh seems to be missing!

My subscription copy arrived this morning, in Hemel Hempstead.
This was a relief as plan B is not feasible as they have closed the local W H Smiths. A trip to St Albans is the alternative now.
Another subscription magazine arrived at the same time, this one being 6 days after publication day. It has never been late before so I presume the strikes, mourning and everything else is causing extraordinary delays.

On the question of horn-blocks, I would go for the High-level ones every time. I tried to use the perseverance ones once, but then switched to High-level. I assembled 6 High-level in the time I had been struggling with a perseverance one, and getting nowhere.

Another thought - the current management of Hornby only came into force in 2017 (according to wikipedia).
The previous management was not 'in-tune' with the market and would think that not renewing a license agreement was a reasonable cost-cutting measure.

I have tried to attach the Puffers catalogue from 2006. I hope it helps.
It does list Westward loco kits, but from personal experience, it was not that simple.

There are some pictures (two in B&W - one in colour) of a twin-set in blood and custard in MLI no242.

In the instructions it states 3'9" - 10 spoke.
There is a mention that there is limited clearance if 16mm wheels are used!

I think the current sets are set up to pick-up from the axles, just like the originals. But I agree, you will need a back-to-back gauge.

I've attempted to send scanned copies of the instructions for the Westward kit to you.
Any problems - contact me.

High-Level are about to bring out a new chassis kit for the J50, based on the Hornby model. Its is not ready yet, and is held up by High-Level being furloughed.

Is it happening on all documents, or just this one? My suggestion is that there are some 'funny' characters on the source file, but if there is a problem on other documents, then it's you.

Sorry, not Harrow and Wealdstone, nor Wembley Central or Watford Junction. After that I get lost going so far north!

In the current MLI (no 242), there are details of the 'Michelin Coventry Cars', including a photograph on the cover, and one of them being filmed at Bushey troughs.

I believe W33 run in the original double-ended form with W38 for some time before being converted to single-ended.

Diode matrix for storage yard points.
in Electrics (non-DCC)
Posted
The wiring for a diode-matrix is shown in the book 'Electronics and Wiring for Model Railways' by Andrew Duckworth.
Unfortunately, there are quite a few errors within the book so beware. For the diode-matrix, the section is meant to show what is required for a diagram on page 100, but the text refers to the diagram on page 27, with the same layout but different point numbers.
Still, you should be able to discern what is required.
