  1. Snailbeach District Railways, @Andy Y covered this nicely in another thread. Seen here in 1974, didn't look much different when Andy went there.
  2. Mid Wales Railway - Moat Lane down to Three Cocks - stunning scenery. The bit beyond to Newport isn't bad either!
  3. I'm not from Portishead, but here are the docks and abandoned rails in 1980!
  4. Desborough North Summit, closed and fired. 1981. Haltwhistle 1987. Consall 2017.
  5. I sprayed the sides after ballasting. Masked using ordinary masking tape. The overspray onto the ballast (under the rail) mimics the rust/dirt that falls onto the ballast.
  6. The sheer scale of the place - this photo of mine 1/1/1976.
  7. Brings back happy memories, I visited the line in 1971, just after it closed. Away from the crowds at the castle, I had the whole place to myself.

  13. Hmmm, 27 downloads for my excel sheet and only one thank you. Here is another comparison chart. Can't remember the source.

Its when the howling starts that you should be worried....

Is it the dog, or is it the owner.

@truffy The Wurzels have an alternative method which uses tools easier to obtain in this country.

  16. Not demolished, I was told. The bridge was listed - because it had a cross roads on it. It was buried - it's supposed to be under the roundabout. From Bath you would have gone straight on at the cross roads - there were traffic lights on it. There was indeed a climb up to the bridge. The parapet was always getting demolished by lorries! The line was closed in 1968 and was lifted at that point by about 1970.
