  1. Disappointing result (for me), relatively disappointing performance, we usually manage to hang out for a bit longer than that, but your boys were good. Boys? Dan Cole? Still, it was a great away day out at Welford Road. Home fans were very welcoming.
  2. That's another £10 I've just won. 😉
  3. If you are convinced it is the traction tyres then spares are available from eg, Peter’s Spares and others. Even if it is not them at fault it might not do any harm to replace traction tyres of that age. A quick google of ‘R305 traction tyres’ reveals the part number you need.
  4. I did have a little bet with myself that somebody would. I've just won a tenner off myself... so, thank you.
  5. I have just tried to log onto the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers website and ….
  6. “Come on in, we’ve got plenty of room”. Thought I’d save time and just jump straight to the punchline.
  7. Managed to get out of estate. Now on coach - let somebody else worry about driving. No point in waving at @Barry O really thick fog. Not even patchy.
  8. Me too - but I’m fretting a little at the moment. A good 2 or 3 inches of snow overnight and it’s still belting it down. It has fallen upon the stuff that froze yesterday evening. Hopefully I will get beyond the front street and out of the estate.
  9. I’ve one eye on the weather forecast because, for my sins, I’m off to Welford Road tomorrow.
  10. @grandadbob will be having a very happy birthday after tonight’s rugby. Whether he managed to watch his team’s game or not.
  11. Evening all Not a lot done today at all. Valerie had an appointment to have a change of nail colour followed by another appointment to have a change of hair colour. These were predicted to take all morning and part of the afternoon so I had plans …. until both were cancelled, in part, due to the weather. Later I managed to get my hair ‘done’ too. Not a two or three hour event but fifteen minutes, and that included walking to and from the barbers. There has been a slight thaw today where the sun has hit but outside of that, the snow remains. There are clear skies now and things are starting to refreeze. Should be interesting again in the morning.
  12. Many happy returns, Bob.
  13. We have 3 or 4 cm this morning - yes, as much as that. It is being topped up by an occasional shower. Guess what is happening on the roads and to local schools?
  14. Unlike some model railways where even grave diggers in the churchyard are likely to fall into the tunnel below.
  15. Until you see what’s inside and taste it. I take it you don’t have a Greggs in Hither and yon.
  16. I had to check that it wasn’t April 1st this morning but I thought at least one person here might appreciate this. Greggs, the high street … err … bakers have decided to open a ‘high class’ bistro type restaurant based on their products. For your delectation a steak bake (pasty), truffle dauphinoise and green beans. Another offering set your gastric juices a-flowing is a Full English Breakfast based upon their sausage rolls. Disappointingly they did not say whether it included beans or not. And no, it’s still not April 1st.
  17. Still made me laugh though.
  18. Morning all Haven't done much so far but will have to go out soon. I was rather hoping that the sun would come round/over the building to clear the snow and ice from the car to save me doing it. Hasn’t happened as yet. Ah well, must get on with it.
  19. Our sons’s dog lived with us when he worked strange, long shifts. We grew quite attached to him. He was well cared for and lived to a good age all be it with several and increasing infirmities. We had eventually reached to conclusion that he was suffering too much and when my son took him to the vets for what we thought would be the final time the vet said “yes, it’s time for him to go”.
  20. In many ways Newcastle Falcons are a ‘franchise’. A local team, Gosforth, taken over by a businessman, probably looking to make a quick buck. It hasn’t worked out that well, has it? I was there today, the crowds are decreasing and the atmosphere is a manufactured one. There was more heart and soul in the handful of Exeter fans that travelled such a (relatively) long way. Sadly, for professional Rugby in the North East, I can see Falcons being next to the wall, and because it is a manufactured club/‘franchise’ there will be very few bus loads travelling to see whatever is left.
  21. But it’s only November. It can’t all be Mr Bean’s Christmas video and Christmas colouring in after Friday can it?
  22. It wasn’t me in the stand. Perhaps I was looking the other way when you waved. Or was still in the bar. Not long back in from the match. To be fair Exeter were very much in control after that crazy first ten minutes. No team can hope to defend for as long as Newcastle had too and not concede anything. Just pleased that they put up a fight of sorts and it wasn’t the slaughtering current form might have suggested.
