  1. The profile list still needs an update but the apps list the latest state of play.
  2. Both Android and iOS apps have been updated for the dongle, which is almost ready to send to the shops. Anyone who can prove the dongle works with other dcc controllers, I'm sure Hornby would be pleased to know. Also new sound profiles released for Class 20, King and 2 x W1 (original and rebuilt). TTS function profiles will also be rolled out in the app to save having to type them in manually. In addition all documentation has been amended to match.
  3. Each legacy loco if made active will appear on the control screen scrollable ribbon in its own right. The dongle will show as their decoder. This is no different than if you had those same locos with the same address on any other dcc controller. Pick one and the other will react as well if on track. Just like if you had a power and dummy car on the same address. I suspect even if inactive a dcc loco would still react. I have not tried it as no 2 different locos are so addressed, only emus / dmus.
  4. That sounds a tad large. The Hornby HM7K ones are 0.8mm pitch. I have no idea if the Heljan ones are the same.
  5. The Select effectively programs on the main as it doesn't have a dedicated programming outlet, and without Railcom cannot read-back.
  6. There will be an update shortly to both iPad and Android apps which incorporate latest fettles, as well as release of more sound profiles including the much requested Class 20. Also the dongles are in country, awaiting final release checks by the test team.
  7. Maybe you should have looked on Strathpeffer Junction site to see how to build a stay alive and see how he hooks it up to a TTS decoder which is essentially an R8249 with sound. Hornby do not publish any of their kit wiring schematics in the public domain.
  8. Roads and Rails was advertising it as v2.2 on that SKU 50220 not 2.5. Confused.com.
  9. Unfortunately if you export a custom profile it only takes the functions, not the CV values.. Another noted glitch is some decoders out of the box are asking for a reset on Android apps. The 'cure' is to force close the app and restart whereupon the decoder becomes state - ready to link.
  10. Extract from the Hornby HM7K decoder manual. Some speakers have a dot to mark polarity, but if not and speakers are the same make adopt connections per the drawing.
  11. I did much the same putting just the speaker in the tender when fitting TTS to an A4. However I simplified the powered drawbar and installed the standard Hornby 4-pin plug/socket arrangement to cater for tender pickups and speaker. Details here http://www.halton96th.org.uk/article7.html
  12. In my experience ESU manuals whilst comprehensive are not user friendly and trying to work out what is what and why is not easy.
  13. The old 21-pin Hornby sound locos (SKU suffix XS) were ESU decoders with Hornby specified sound files loaded by ESU according to the ESU UK sounds archive section. As such the files are not available to reload. Note the v3.5 decoder needs a 100 ohm speaker and these are rare as hen's teeth. Edit - it is assumed you are looking at this instruction sheet
  14. Extract from the HM7K decoder manual . . .
  15. That is a well reported known glitch. It did reset but the screen did not clear thru' to show it as linkable. Power cycling the track and handheld device is the work around until it is fixed.
  16. Looks very much like a split chassis to me and no obvious evidence of power to directional lighting.
  17. Why not call Hornby tech as they may have a Z21 for testing purposes and could maybe explain it for you. These TXS decoders are a tad sensitive to track voltage variation and for instance ABC function can be awry out of the controlled section due grubby track, dodgy pickups, etc. Possibly similar happening in your case.
  18. Were these at latest firmware states or early revisions. Folk constantly harp on about these controllers but they were the dark age versions, not those of today. DCC is DCC and should not only work when tallied to a specific platform. I agree your support is best placed for your product, but please do not fall into the trap of blaming it on Hornby.
  19. The app lists most profiles at v1.4.0 but some are 'better' than that, as listed on the Hornby forum with that caveat as a note. If your profile is below that revision then reloading the profile with the latest version is recommended. Ref addressing, most short addresses will read across from the app but long addresses definitely need to be over-typed after loading a new profile, despite what the app shows. Then a CV re synch in the advanced CV editor is recommended. No need to do it all from your DCC controller.
  20. Complete Horlicks - the Elite is NMRA certificated not just claimed to be compliant. There are several complaints from Gen-Pop that the on-board stay alive doesn't work with most other decoders and that the Loksound 5 decoder uses CVs outwith the normal range of 1-255, which many controllers cannot access.
  21. No x 3. You don't say which decoder pin configuration is at fault. Have you got the decoder in the socket correct way round. Check the sockets for stray or missing solder traces. I saw an advert which said the board had a coreless motor - is this significant. My boards all have normal motors.
  22. In bluetooth mode a unique and unchangeable MAC address is used by each decoder. In DCC mode a standard and more versatile DCC address is used. At present although the decoders can be consisted in DCC mode and in the case of book-end sets like HST they can have masking applied to make sounds come from the right end according to direction, they cannot be yet consisted from the app. Work continues to provide a phantom MAC address that will be used by an app consist, so expect to see this later.
  23. Not quite so. You only need access to Hornby servers to fetch the sound profiles. Operating on bluetooth is local to you, though one wonders if the app would still function if there was no Hornby Towers server to login into to start with.
  24. A short would not deregister RM. I suggest deleting the errant locos from your RM roster and adding them again, one by one. Blind reset each one as you go and check it responds correctly on address 3 before attempting to readdress them.
