  1. That's interesting re the 45xx. He was considering squeezing in a quick rerun in the wake of Masterpiece announcing they were closing but he later told me the factory weren't prepared to do a small enough batch so it wasn't going ahead. Perhaps with a lower price there would be enough demand to support a bigger run though.
  2. Any news on the ex Lionheart B set at Telford?
  3. Not sure if it has been mentioned elsewhere and I've simply missed it but there is a photo of a green sample on the Tower site now.
  4. I think I'd be slightly more worried about the fact it only appears to have 3 wheels!
  5. Has anyone bought the Tower all green version? I'd like to see a photo of the production version, preferably with headcodes in place, if anyone can post one up please. Ta!
  6. Im not sure it actually makes any difference - I only looked at all because I'd never noticed the different type of lights until you mentioned it! Really it's the windscreens and head code that make up the face.
  7. Steve, Hope this doesn't come across as critical but are the new marker lights on 845 a little too far from the centre? They seem to be inside the lamp irons in the token exchange photo... Impressive stuff though and think I'll take the plunge inspired by this! Cheers Ian
  8. Amazing! Growing up in Southampton I travelled on these a lot and used to stand in the connection between cabs where you could see the speedometer. Although not as good as "driving" a Thumper from in the corridor behind the engine bay!
  9. Hi, I've also noticed from far too much time looking at photos of the Wenford branch that even onto the 60's a lot of the clay traffic seems to be older vehicles - either the original GWR opens or even private owners whereas the BR built ones are dominant in photos of elsewhere in Cornwall by then. Handy I suppose given no one does a BR one currently! Ian
  10. Hi, Very inspirational thread - especially when I'm supposed to be decorating! Apologies for an inexperienced question but when you say you've cut the frames for the hornblocks, what is the best tool to use to cut (and for that matter drill) brass? Thanks!
  11. On a different note... is that a full sized Hornby VEP we can see in the ship's wheel photo?! Just out of interest, what do all the white levers and handles do?
  12. Will they do both Brush and Crewe oriented tail lights? I'll get my coat!
  13. I'd be interested. Roughly how many would they have to expect to sell, to be viable? I presume the options already available will have taken up a fair bit of the demand and whilst I'd buy an improved one, many will be happy to stick with what they've already got - which presumably is why JLTRT never took the plunge...
  14. You make your own luck - just takes most of us a lot longer to make anything than Brian!
  15. Very much enjoyed the show and thanks again for showing me the med fit (see page 61) which is absolutely exquisite!
  16. Fabulous work on the 47 Brian. Theres's something akin to grandfather's axe about this project! So what's next - are you going to have a crack at lowering the cab roof guttering and remodelling those front windscreens?! Given the success of the sustained Falcon lobbying, surely we can get some sort of Heljan proportioned but more accurate looking windscreen etches one day...
  17. Many thanks! I used a bent paper clip which I thought was a bit amateur but is basically just a less elegant version of the same principle!
  18. Nice! Just out of interest, did you build the Parkside rigid?
  19. Hi, No wasn't that one - link attached hopefully: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bachmann-00-Gauge-Class-47-236-Professionally-detailed-and-weathered-/271152025101?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item3f21eb8e0d. I suspect its a GFYE respray although it doesn't say as such. Anyway thanks for info re the 3 piece moulding.
  20. Just out of interest, is the Backy 3 piece fixed grill just an etch over the Serck moulding? Noticed a blue Bachmann on e bay at the moment with roller blind headcode panels and serck grills which is claimed to be an ex 47148 (which was one of the 3 piece models). Which got me wondering....
  21. Big difference between a giant absorbing losses to put rivals out of business compared to Dapol stating prices don't need to be so high though... If JLTRT don't think a Warship would sell, I can see why Falcon wouldn't. But then they said a 47 wouldn't sell (even though the Heljan effort has its detractors) yet they produced duplicates such as a 26, 33 etc which were not widespread (let alone something like the Clayton). Not us taking the risk I guess but I don't follow the logic really.
  22. How about a 1/24 bus placed at the front then?!
