  1. How about this for a really pedantic ref?
  2. Been done before several times, including at International and Non League level.
  3. Should have been about 15 for Spurs really! - Kirkland kept them in it!
  4. Leeds won 3-0. Was always going to be a tough as for a resurgent Brighton.
  5. Hailsham Town 1 - Chichester City 3 Riddiford A real game of two halves - Hailsham began brightly and had chances for Goatcher and Alexander before taking the lead when Tom Riddiford headed home a free kick. Chichester, who looked dangerous on the break, had two ruled out for offside before the interval, but seemed to lack cohesion at the back on more than one occasion. It was a scrappy, niggly affair though, and as the second half began in blustery conditions, Chichester started much the brighter, and levelled after poor marking at a corner. The second, five or so minutes later, came in similar circumstances, with men not being picked up from a free kick. Hailsham did have one or two chances to get back into it - Dave Harris had a fine game on the right - but Chichester were certainly making the most of the windy conditions, and added a third just before full time. Also been invited to the next Committee Meeting, with a view to joining - will be a chance to give something back to a game that is so special to me
  6. Well, another 60 miles on the clock. How did it go? Lingfield 1 - Hailsham Town 2 Goatcher (Pen), Barden) A chillly night, and a long drive, but a great result. Lingfield certainly had their chances - an early clearance off the line, and some poor finishing as welll, but Hailsham took the lead through Tyler Goatcher's penalty midway through the first half, and held on for that vital lead into the interval. Second half saw Lingfield throw on the strong Hughes, always a handful up front, but it was Hailsham who started the brighter, and after some nice play, earned a second penalty. This time, the 'keeper guessed correctly to deny Goatcher - to be fair, it was a good stop - but a second came minutes later when Nick Barden's corner sailed into the net at the far post. There could have been more - Goatcher and Harris both coming close, but just unable to convert following some poor defending. Lingfield then lay seige to Okky's goal, and 10 or so from time, won a penalty, which was neatly converted. The final moments were admitedly nervy, with Hailsham, forced to defend deep, pulling off some fine tackles in and around the box, whilst skipper Alexander reacted superbly to block a late goalbound effort. The win, on effort at least, well deserved - and three very hard fought points will come in very handy! Word for the officials, who were strong, and did very well in the face of some strong Lingfield provocation, which culminated in the manager being sent from his dugout with 20 or so to play. That's why we do it. So, so proud of them all, 100% each and every one of them. Fantastic!
  7. Never a truer word spoken! Tomorrow Hailsham are away at Lingfield. It's a 60 mile round trip on a Tuesday night. In our last match, we lost 6-1. Last time we played Lingfield was on the 15th of August, in the FA Cup. We lost 7-1. Why then, are me, my brother, and no doubt a few other hardy souls making the trip? Because we do - and that's all there is to it. It might sound totally mad to most people, but not to football fans - and, as derided as the game may be by some, there is a mutual 'culture' amongst fans that all would understand. It's what we do.
  8. Most of the local programme was washed out today - but WHAT a performance from Peacehaven in the FA Vase! Wouldn't have thought that was physically possible!
  9. Morning. Still around, just suffering a bit. Been off for a week now with a viral infection which has laid me low. Saw the Enke news last night, very sad.
  10. Fantastic game, and great performance from Northwich - really enjoyed it. Hailsham? - Lost 6-1 at Three Bridges yesterday. We were abject, and manager Dave Shearing has walked as a result.
  11. Morning all. Editing the Sussex County League onto FM10 is proving harder than planned. Still, a day off, and the whole weekend ahead of me. Superb.
  12. Morning. Full grey, but not too bad temperature wise. Today is my Friday \o/ - Get done today, go home, relax for a few hours, then go to Tesco at midnight to pick up FM2010. Come home, install, go to bed, then up early tomorrow to spend the morning editing in the Sussex County League - and then it begins - I can manage Hailsham Town, and fufill a (rather sad, but still ) lifelong dream B)
  13. Morning. Nice outside today, bit chilly, but should be fairly pleasant nonetheless. I understand that the weekend will bring rain We are off to St Francis Rangers, who play at the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath in the League. Should at least be signposted, which is more than most grounds! - Might not even bother with the Sat Nav, as there are early kickoffs on Radio 5.
  14. Morning. Off to Bexhill later for some training, which may or may not (haven't decided if I can face looking at things, only to see ridiculous prices and then buy online) involve a wander round PC World as well. Overcast here, but not too bad.
  15. Morning all. Bright and sunny here (too sunny, the glare on the windscreen at times this morning was as bad as high summer). Still, a 4-day week awaits! B)
  16. Morning. Clocks all seem to have altered themselves, which is nice - unfortunatley, an extra hour or not, Tesco still isn't open yet, so I can't get the NLP. Seems bright outside anyway though, makes a change from a week of grey.
  17. Morning all. Not too bad out today, looks like rain at some point today though. Hump day over and done with, two more days, then it's the weekend!
  18. Morning. I'm getting no pictures, but I suspect this is down to the horrible browser hell that is IE6. Damp and dark out there this morning - still, 10 days till FM10, and 3 days till I can pick up my new PC. Good stuff.
  19. Morning. Do you think it would be wise to claim for the 50p coffee I bought at a meeting yesterday, on ths basis that it used to be free? Moving on We lost last night, 3-2 in the Senior Cup. We took the lead, they equalised, went to Extra Time, we scored again, then they scored two in a minute to get the win. A draw would have certainly been the fairer result, but it was a real cup tie, end to end and all action.
  20. Morning. Cold again out first thing, now boiling in the office as my colleagues have the heating on full whack. Oh well. Football tonight \o/ - Eastbourne United Association v Hailsham Town - The Sussex Senior Cup, 2nd Round. Our first of four away matches in a row, and our first of three Cup matches in a row - by the time we get back to League action again at Peacehaven, it'll be the 31st of October... Good news though on the work front; My annual leave has been accepted. 26th November off to go Christmas shopping (well, that's the plan at least) - and 29th-31st December off as well, giving me a Christmas break of Dec 25-Jan 4th. Plenty of time to play with the hoped for Christmas pressie 4-CEP, with any luck B)
  21. Morning. Just off to buy the NLP - and, more importantly, collect my winnings from the bookies B)
  22. Same old faces I see Hailsham lost 2-0 at home to Redhill - however, I have won 33 quid at the bookies, thanks to Norwich, Colchester, Lincoln and Luton B)
