  1. Pitch inspection at The Recreation Ground, Rustington tomorrow at 9.30. Looking likely that we'll lose our second game of the season to the weather. The Ressies are supposed to be at home to Lancing, but unless there is a miraculous thaw, that'll definatley be off, the ground has been rock solid all day. Bah.
  2. Wild Swan will be pleased. I've been umming and arring over whether to get this book, and now I've seen the results, my mind is well and truly made up. Lovely!
  3. Kudos to the driver of tonight's 17.22 from Lewes to Eastbourne. Failed to stop at Berwick and made the entire carriage roar with laughter with his apology :D

Hmmm, I think I used to get that one home... about 16:50 at gatwick?

More to the point what did the driver say that made people laugh.

Yeah, would have thought it is the 4.16 out of Victoria originally - Terry, just a very deadpan apology for 'forgetting to stop' and that he couldn't go backwards! - Possibly the first time since 1968 that punters have been advised to change for a connection at Polegate too!

  4. Eyeing up honeymoon destinations. It's either 4 nights in the New Forest or Torbay for us \o/ - can't decide which!

I've had several great holidays in the New Forest, and one more recently in Torbay - still torn! - the Missus to be is leaving it up to me, as she is from strange northern parts (Staffordshire ;) ) and has never been to either. Decisions...

  5. Very productive day. Shed tidied, main component parts of Ratio Goods Shed painted, 3-link couplings & coach buffers ordered - back to work tomorrow!

  6. Today saw Hailsham Town bounce back to winning ways after last weeks embarrasing 5-1 reverse against East Preston. Steyning despatched 3-0 with goal number 26 of the season in the league alone for Danny Leach - he's now got 32 in all competitions - opening the scoring before Jamie Salvidge (tap in) and Ashley Hall (shot through a crowd) completed it. Second in the league, looking good.
  7. Having to sit through X Factor instead of watching the snooker. On the plus side - Downton Abbey Christmas Special trailer \o/

  8. RIP Gary Speed. Tragic

Wow, that is terrible, football has lost a gentleman, a sad time for all concerned with Gary Speed.

  9. Wick 0 - Hailsham Town 3. Good win, marred just after the third goal - what sort of k**b deliberatley trips someone who has just scored and is running back to the centre circle for the restart?!

I think Kev's right - but the most frustrating thing was that the linesman didn't see it happen, so no action.

  10. has rejoined the ranks of the rail commuters - well have you ever tried parking in Lewes?

  11. The floor people have eaten a Ratio 4 Wheel Coach buffer. Any better replacements available?

There are a quite a few suppliers of some lovely turned brass OO buffers out there, sprung too.

Replacements? Nah, you can't really reinvent a floor.

  12. An excellent win for The Stringers yesterday in a real game of two halves. First belonged to Rustington - they should have had two goals, but for a combination of fine goalkeeping and woeful finishing - but after the break, it was all us - Shane Saunders scored twice in three minutes, then new signing Ben Billings (who has been playing for Welling in the Blue Square South) beat two men and hit a rocket into the top corner. Ash Jarvis prodded home the fourth, Danny Leach lobbed home from 25 yards, and then Ash wrapped it up to make it 6-0. We're now in the Semi Final of the Division Two Cup - last time we were in Division Two we made it to the final only to lose to Sidlesham, so this time it would be great to go one better and win it!
  13. 0-0 at half time - by the end it was Hailsham Town 6 - Rustington 0. Sometimes I love football :D

  14. Another win last night, 1-0 at home to Seaford, making the stats for the season: Hailsham Town - Played 12, Won 10, Drawn 1, Lost 1, Scored 37, Conceded 9 Still second though! - but with a game in hand over East Preston, who are top of the pile and are the only team to beat us in the League this season.
  15. Took some photos this week of the prototype Station building I'm planning to replicate in the shed. Sounds worringly like 'real modelling' as opposed to the usual crude, slapdash & implausible approach!

      Which station building?

Place motor on top of track with wire through tie-bar. Centre blades make sure motor is square to track. Mark board where notched for screws are. Drill through board with fine bit. Fit two screws loosely add motor fit other two screws and tighten. I found this worked for me.

  22. and as the one tortoise i succesfully mounted on the underside of the board goes crashing down, i think its time to leave the shed to calm down...

  23. \o/ a successful evening - not only have I sorted out the dodgy power button on my phone, but I've sorted out the dodgy track in the shed as well!

  24. Might have de-shorted the circuit, but is still inept at wiring... - Sure it's something utterly basic though!
