  4. Double sided tape is not adequate to hold tortoise point motors. What is then?

Yes... - Its like soldering though, I need to grow another hand for that!

Place motor on top of track with wire through tie-bar. Centre blades make sure motor is square to track. Mark board where notched for screws are. Drill through board with fine bit. Fit two screws loosely add motor fit other two screws and tighten. I found this worked for me.

  5. and as the one tortoise i succesfully mounted on the underside of the board goes crashing down, i think its time to leave the shed to calm down...

Well enjoy! Two of four now installed & working anyway!

  6. \o/ a successful evening - not only have I sorted out the dodgy power button on my phone, but I've sorted out the dodgy track in the shed as well!

  7. Might have de-shorted the circuit, but is still inept at wiring... - Sure it's something utterly basic though!

      What's giving the problems?

    2. dseagull

      dseagull

A couple of sets of points aren't playing properly - but the rest works, so getting there!

  8. has de-shorted the circuit! \o/

  9. Tracing a short circuit - about as much fun as shaving with a chainsaw.

  10. Solder feeds to track first or fix track to Baseboard? - It's been a while! (But hey, I've had trains running!)

  11. There's power in the shed! - it's only taken however long it was since I last posted... \o/\o/

Will that be the end of the modelling then?

Cheers all - certainly not the end of the modelling, work has taken place on Tarring Neville this week - slow going, but will be worth it!

  13. Has just seen Dave Lee Travis declare on Channel 4 News that he is planning to take over the world. Erk :D

Noel Edmonds better be worried, I still think DLT hasn't forgiven him for that 'Gotcha' all those years ago...

From hairy cornflake to megalomaniac. That's quite a step up ;)

  14. Albrighton, Fellani, Rodwell, Arteta, Wilshire. That midfield should be enough to get us into Europe.... - it could be a long night of Football Manager ;)

  15. 6 packets of seed, planted at the same time. The only one to show any life so far? Pansy 'Beaconsfield'. That's a good omen for the new season, that is! :D

Sounds like an Enid Blyton character

  16. Instrument shelf completed - might actually be nearly ready to start building the signal box itself by the weekend!

  17. Made the most of a working internet connection last night to re-introduce myself to Ian's Vanfare for the Common Man topic on old RMWeb. Trip to the Garden Centre in Halland needed today, so it wouldn't be too much of a diversion to pick up a couple of Parkside kits in Uckfield on the way home....

Nice to know it's still relevant Stu :-)

Very much so Ian! - Unfortunatley, none in stock today, so it will have to wait a couple of weeks

  18. What is this I see before me? - Is it a properly working (well, 3G, but it's better than the dialup speeds of late anyway!) internet connection?!?! \o/\o/\o/

  19. This slower than dialup internet is still doing my head in. Still, worked long enough for me to order a couple of bits for Tarring Neville...!

Ours here peaks at just 767kbps on a good downhill day with a following wind. The same set up at our old address was 7.8MBPS. We now call it 'skinnyband'...

  20. And lo, it came to pass, that DS would spend a second summer organising a fete for Hailsham Town FC.... If you're interested, read about it at http://goo.gl/JiIjs

  21. New PC now in new cottage, with new internet connection. Shed arrives Thursday - all ready for the new layout!

  22. terrific 4-0 away win for Hailsham Town! Shane gets his fourth hatrick of the season!

  23. 3-2 home defeat for the Stringers in a game that had it all - argh, so close!

  24. Deposit paid, move date agreed - wow! - very, very happy

Good to hear things are working out :-) .

  25. Hailsham Town 0 - East Grinstead 0. Grinstead parking the bus very effectively!
