  1. yeadons in a searchable pdf please. I need a 51a J39 from 1954-1964, preferably 1954-62, and all this text is going in but hitting the back of the inside of my cranium with a dull thud and dissapearing down my spine and out of my backside into the ether again. It appears I can neither read or comprehend this morning. Time for a brew.

By proccess of elimination due to allocation dates and shopping at North Road, I've now narrowed down to a choice between 64848 and 64835.

Doug: of course. If I'm going to wear a hair shirt then of course its P4 :) David, aye snapshot was a bit pot luck. Mark that was my next thought, making it an extra easy livery to do too. Unfortunately the Yeadons version of its record card says it enjoyed nice holidays north to Cowlairs for its workshop time :( Paul, a Middleton excusion had crossed my mind (a j39 did work the last passenger train from Bishop Auckland to Middleton) but I'm wondering if West Auckland shed served Shil...

Ta for that Mr Worsdell. Bookmarked: most useful. I have access to a bulk OCR scanner but it requires dismembering of the book :(. I seems no class J39 was allocated at 51a after June 1952. That last engine went to West Auckland soooooooo its off to the library to conjure up a reason for a W-Auck engine being between Darlington and Barnard Castle. I can have two J39s in store in about 1958, but using a Bradwell chassis as a scrapper seems sacriligeous. 64982 is closest so far.

  10. Watching a nature documentary about Hornbills. Apparently the lack of covert feathers on their wings means they make the sound of a "locomotive" when flying. Cut down on sound decoder costs - install a Hornbill!

  11. Thought id seen every type of rail enthusiast, but Ive recently discovered people who go on railtours just to go over certain crossovers.

  12. Ironic? The good lady of the house is in theatre having her knee overhauled.... I'm at home preparing to take a dremel to a 4mt chassis. Hopefully I'm the only brutal surgeon today.
