  1. Thanks 9C85. Happy New year. Yes I can confirm that the layout is 4mm. Unfortunately the photos don't quite show the scale of the layout very well if I am being honest. Hopefully as more progress is made it will show better.
  2. Hi Damian, Happy New Year. Yes it was. I plan to model the period 1988 to 1992 but have different ideas. Might have to potentially model slightly different periods with some stock that can straddle 88 to 92. I would like to model 1988 as that was the year when we visited Toton and still allows a few Peaks to be seen. I know that by that time the 45s had all been reallocated to Tinsley but it is my train set after all!! But I also would like to have class 60s on the scene alongside battered pairs of 20s just ahead of their withdrawal. As you say it is the variety of traction and liveries. BR blue, Large Logo, Original Railfreight, Red Stripe Railfreight, Sector and departmental. 08s, 20s, 31s, 37s, 45s, 47s, 56s, 58s..... Great, thanks. I will let you know the date...
  3. I managed to find a few more locos to position outside the front of the shed. Happy New Year to all. Fingers crossed that 2021 is a better year for everyone.
  4. With 1980s music playing, I cannot stop sleepers a laying.... Apologies, it must be the glue finally getting to my head. Latest progress: The next jobs: 1. Sort out the track area that connects the inspection pits to the sleepers. This has the rails sat in the concrete. Then I can start laying the rails. 2. Lathe Road line. 3. Load Bank line. 4. Washing Plant line. Should keep me busy.
  5. Hi Ian, Thanks, hope you had a good Christmas. Yes I might be a tad short on locos for my layout!! It is good to see that you are making progress with Exford Park2. Ballasting eh, hmmm, I might have to ask for some assistance with ballasting!! I have a bit to do. I was thinking of holding a ballasting party (if and when restrictions allow in 2023!!).... I have not counted the number of sleepers that have been laid, perhaps I should have done. I might go and count them... Happy New Year to you and your family. Hope to see you in 2021.
  6. A Birthday update. A few shots looking north of the shed: Today's progress:
  7. Happy Birthday Boxenby Depot!! Wow, is it really eleven years since I started this project? 11 years to the day… Must be time for the annual update!! I cannot believe that I have gone from this: To this: My thanks to all those that have continued to visit my thread on the off chance that I have actually done some modelling! Thank you for accompanying me and my perseverance! I will post an update later.
  8. It's good to see your project progressing, great work. Looking superb. I do love the depot doors! I bet your 60s look rather nice sat outside the shed!! Keep up the good work.
  9. Thanks Damian, I suppose I just don't want my update posts to be too boring! I actually quite enjoy laying the sleepers and seeing the board come to life. Beforehand, the thought of laying sleepers didn't get me excited at all, quite the contrary! However, now I am surprised to say that I do quite enjoy it. Slightly obsessive...
  10. Another tedious sleeper update, apologies!! Not too many new additions. A couple of different views
  11. Mr Shedmaster, thank you for dropping by. Hope all is well. Thank you for your kind comments. The building looks small, that's because it is!!! I am hoping that 2021 will see quite a few land marks for the project, including many loco movements.... How is Stewarts Lane? Have you managed to get your superb layout finished? Happy New Year to you and your family. Hopefully in 2021 we may be able to meet at some point.
  12. I am afraid to confess that this sleeper laying business is actually becoming quite addictive!! And obsessive.... More sleepers have been laid over the past couple of days:
  13. Thanks EWS FAN, a long way to go but definitely some substantial progress has been made.
  14. Thanks Steve, the same to you. Mrs G I think is quite glad to have some peace and quiet for a few hours..... Whilst it is great to see some progress, it is now finally dawning on me just how much stock I am going to need to fill the depot!! You watch the prices of 20s, 56s and 58s go through the roof on eBay as soon as I have the layout finished!!!
  15. Thanks Damian, glad that you like it. I feel that it is now starting to come alive after over ten years in the making! Hopefully you can now see what I can trying to achieve with the layout.
  16. A quick Boxing Day update. I have laid more sleepers and positioned a few locos to give an idea of how the track should look out the front of the shed.
  17. Thank you to everyone that has taken the time to view and comment on my thread over the past year. It is much appreciated. Sorry that there has not been much progress to show! I have laid a few more sleepers.... Thanks to Andy and The Team for all their work throughout the year keeping RMweb going. I wish all RMweb members a Merry Christmas.
  18. Hi Peter, Glad to hear that things are okay where you are at the moment. Have a good Christmas. I am also hoping to get a bit more done. Need to get some 20s, 56s and 58s lined up out the front of the shed!
  19. Hi Peter, How are things down under? Hope you and your family are all okay. Thanks, it has been a while so nice to actually get some modelling done on the layout. I am still targeting 2030 for it to be finished!!!
  20. Good morning Nik, Thank you for your pre-order. Invoices will be going out next month so don't worry. Hope that helps. Merry Christmas.
  21. Well I seem to have made more progress in the past few days than over the last three years! I have made a start gluing the sleepers down. Only a few more to go.......
  22. Morning Will, I am pleased that you spotted the illusion of perspective trick using the N gauge locos. This has long been a method adopted by many of the famous scale modellers in the past!!! Merry Christmas!
