  1. We hope everyone has had a great bank holiday weekend. Look out for the full HAA project update later this week!
  2. Good evening Amwells, Apologies for the delay in replying. You can still pre-order our PHA/JGA wagons, please see below link to the pre-order form here: More information can be found on our website. Hope that helps.
  3. Prototype Inspiration Photo courtesy Robert Catterson 60062 on a diverted 6M54 Thorney Mill - Bardon Hill working at Burton upon Trent, 7th of August 1998. Keep a look out for our PHA/JGA project update coming soon.
  4. This week I have been mostly threading chairs..... Track laying has well and truly begun. A big thank you to Will for all his help so far. Hopefully 2021 will see some movement!
  5. We are excited to show off a first glimpse of our decorated HAA samples, with more to follow in the coming days. However we are pleased to tease with a quick snap of it's features including, accurately modelled underframe detail with cast metal solebar, correctly designed brake discs where different types are required, hopper door bump stops over the axles and even the correct variants of the hopper door style based on the prototype, as can be seen in the image. Look out for the full painted sample reveal coming soon.
  6. No progress since the last update, however, I now have some components for track laying. I am hoping that some progress with track laying will occur very soon !
  7. Good morning Down_Under, yes the Bauxite livery would be the correct livery for 1976 and prior to Railfreight livery being introduced.
  8. Good evening Tom, thank you for your question. The Plain Brown version is a generic base colour for a dirty/rusty version of the wagon. The idea behind these are really to represent a base to a weathered finish more often as seen today. As you mention the wagons are in a very dirty, grimy and rusty state these days! Hope that helps.
  9. Good morning Gordon, Our understanding is that only two BBAs received Metals livery, 910265 and 910333. Links to photos on Paul Bartlett's site: https://PaulBartlett.zenfolio.com/bba/e3c4213cf https://PaulBartlett.zenfolio.com/bba/e27dc5a9d Hope that helps.
  10. We are excited today to release more information regarding the second run of our BBA and BLA wagons. The second run will include the following new liveries; Bauxite and Metals for the BBA, plain brown for the BLA and EWS for both the BBA and BLA. More information can be found here: https://www.cavalexmodels.com/bba-and-bla-wagons
  11. Good evening Bloodnok, thank you for your post and suggestions, much appreciated. I will certainly have a look at the Liverpool Lime Street thread. Thank you. Thanks again, I think some time to consider the best way forward is required for the time being.
  12. A small update today. The new baseboards have now been aligned and bolted together with just a small tweak required on the levelling but overall I am really pleased. I have printed off the track plan for the refuelling point area and this has just been laid on the board. Now the track plan is down this has raised a problem with the track, which to be honest I had been expecting, there is a point across a baseboard joint. I am actually quite surprised that it is only one point that is straddling a baseboard joint. If anyone has any suggestions for how best to deal with the point issue I would be very grateful. I think this just shows that planning ahead is always beneficial!! A few photos. I am now going to make a start on the design for the concrete area for the refuelling point and then finish laying the sleepers for the three stabling sidings. Hopefully this will give me some time to have a think about how best to deal with the point across the joint.
  13. Today I managed to raise the new baseboards and they are now not too far off. A bit of adjustment is required but it is pretty much there. Tomorrow I plan to get the baseboard alignment dowels in and the boards properly connected. Then I can get the trackplan down and start laying sleepers. A few photos.
  14. Hi Class60lover, there is just enough of a gap to allow you to stand behind the original baseboards. To be honest it is starting to get a bit tight but I will have to manage for now! The idea is that the layout will be operated from the east side, most of the photos posted have been taken from this side.
  15. A small update. During the evenings last week I managed to find some time to get the majority of the assembly of the new boards completed. Now just need to finish off and get the end plates and baseboard alignment dowels fitted. The plan has always been to model the refuelling point and add this later on when the time was right. Now that sleeper laying has begun it made sense to get the baseboards built to allow the majority of the track to be put down and aligned. Thanks to Tim Horn for making the baseboards, I would thoroughly recommend his products. The new boards also allow for the rest of the three stabling sidings. Here are some photos showing the new baseboards positioned next to the three main boards. The new boards need raising a little to sit at the same height as the main boards. Hopefully this gives you an idea of how it will look when the track is eventually finished in 2030!! Looking towards the depot from the north end of the depot. You can see 56013 and 56083 positioned where the refuelling point will be. 56049 and 58006 are at the end of the three stabling sidings. Some more views. Looking in the other direction.
  16. Thanks, getting there albeit slowly!
  17. Yes it is, now starting to take up a bit more room!! Photos coming very soon!
  18. Not much to report on Boxenby. Unfortunately there has not been any progress since the last post. However, today I received two parcels from Tim Horn Lasercutting. Thanks Tim! These are the additional boards which will be added to the front of the layout to allow the fuelling point and the rest of the stabling sidings to be modelled. Looking forward to getting the boards put together and in position. Then I can lay some more sleepers! Yay!!
  19. Good afternoon Rembrow, Thanks for your message. The first batch of invoices were sent out by email yesterday evening. Hopefully the rest of the invoices will be sent out this evening. Hope that helps.
  20. Thanks David, I am really pleased with how it has turned out. Will look better once painted and in location but hopefully it gives you an idea of what I am hoping to achieve. These two photos hopefully show what I am trying to model, these are taken at March depot but very similar. I am waiting for some bits and bobs to arrive and then hopefully more progress can be made.
  21. Thank you BaxJones1711 for all your posts, photos and the information that you have kindly included. This will prove very helpful for these future releases. We are very much looking forward to producing these versions.
  22. Good evening Jack, Thanks for your message. As Roy kindly posted we will be providing an update next month on how to pre-order. Please do keep an eye on our website and social media pages.
  23. Cavalex Models are excited to announce that we will be contacting customers and issuing invoices within the next week to 10 days, with the aim of starting the tooling stage of the process at the end of March/early April for our 4mm PHA/JGA wagon. Thank you to everyone that has supported this project so far. We are very excited about this project moving to the tooling stage of the process. Back in 2018 we asked for suggestions for future projects following the commencement of production of our PGA wagon and the BBA and PHA/JGA were both high on the list. The number of pre-orders received for our PHA/JGA certainly confirms the feedback received and proves that this will be a popular wagon for modellers. 24. Photos showing the first completed tests of our weathered TEA/KBA wagons can be found in our February update: https://www.cavalexmodels.com/february-2021-update
  25. Further to the post earlier regarding the second BBA/BLA run, please see below liveries that we are planning to produce: More information can be found in our February update including further variants: https://www.cavalexmodels.com/february-2021-update
