Good choice of wagon gents. I remember seeing these going round the unloading loop a Radlett many moons ago. I reckon this was the first train that brought class 56 traction to the southern end of the MML. I wish you well with the project. Early 80s Redland ones for me.

I do like these photo threads. A few of mine. A class 90 under construction at Crewe Works 1987. A pair of 86s double heading what looks like a rake of BBAs at Warrington during the summer of 1982. 87005 leaving Crewe southbound with a rake of NSE branded blue and grey MK1s. 4th june 1987. 87101 on display at Bounds Green open day, 4th May 1987. I never did like those white window surrounds on 101. Prototype APT 370002 at Crewe Works open day 1981. 91019 passes a 313 whilst leaning into the curve at Hatfield during summer 2014.

This is the last time I went out to see the class 58s. 20th Feb, 2016. 58020 and 58031 can be seen top and tailing a rake of ballast wagons at another virtual quarry located at Los Ramos, within the Region of Murcia. The junction for the line towards Cartagena is just behind the the tamper on the right. 58020 is closest the camera and is at the Alicante end of the convoy. Thanks for getting the group set up Mike (and Pete) and Mr York too. One question though. How do you go about moving a thread from say overseas prototype to this new Spanish group. Is it something for the moderators or can the person who started the thread do it themselves? I'm thinking specifically about the "Class 58s in Spain" thread.

Just my two pesetas worth Pete, but why try to put the crossing over the join? Can´t you position the crossing over the tracks at an angle and have the baseboard join following the left hand side? I´m sure that would hide it more. You´d just have to plonk a manhole cover or some other excuse by the end of the platform ramp on the far side and slightly lengthen the walkway at track level. The greenery behind the station looks superb by the way.

Looks like a Bachmann 36-553 to me. I´m not sure if that was the re-badged Lenz basic from about 10 years ago? Others will know for sure.

Superb work as always Pete. I like the Marina on the bridge. I learnt to drive in one the same colour back in 1985.

That´s an impressive double helix. I like the simple sky backscene too. Is the metalic bridge a kit or hand made?

Looking and sounding good Pete. Has anyone mentioned that 03 shunters used to ply their trade around the East of London? Looks like a couple of 105s in the background too.

Hi Pete. As usual I´m coming to this conversation a bit late but my suggestion for what it´s worth (although it may already have been mentioned?). Wanstead Park. It´s not a million miles away and quite similar to the original name. Either way I´m likeing the scenario of East End freight with an odd DMU intrusion. I´ve got an old OPC picture album from the late 70s and there is a picture of an 08 on the Silvertown tramway awaiting the level crossing gates to be opened before it runs into a fan of sidings. I believe its destination was the scrapyard of Wards? The building opposite is still there as I Google Earthed it but the surroundings have changed beyond all recognition. It is now another leafy suberb of London. Nothing compared with the industrial landscape of 40 years ago. Someone also mentioned Transfesa which links in nicely to your other layout albeit in N gauge. Now if that one was rebuilt to oo gauge you could have an international fiddle yard with London one side and somewhere in "La Mancha" on the other end. Just a thought? ;-)

Not great video but video all the same!

A couple of weeks ago I was driving towards Alicante from Murcia and spied one of the class 58s finally at work on the high speed link to Murcia. On Friday 30th I once again had to go to Alicante but I had more time to spare on the return journey. A siding has been installed from the high speed line to a virtual quarry that has been installed near to the town of Crevillente. It´s quite a steep gradient to get out of and judging by the speed and flange squeeling of the consist, not the best laid siding in the world. The lead loco is 58030 and the other being 58043. Both locos were working but not in multiple. Once clear of the siding they accelerated away onto the viaduct that straddles the AP7 motorway to drop the ballast. And finally a close up of the sticker applied to the cabside. UTE translates to Temporary union of companies (Union temporal de empresas) although I´m not too sure of the EWS participation here? Ballast has been laid up to the town of San Isidro, about 5km away in the Murcia direction. More soon with some better weather hopefully!

Cheers Pete. I forgot about you and your Lego! I could just about make out that there were 4 layers of something involved in the construction but assumed you had laminated 4 layers of PVC o equivalent together. It looks good.

I like the concrete buffer stop Pete. Authentic looking concrete. Is that Testors suede giving that rough effect?

A couple more from the South Eastern corner of Spain but loco hauled services this time. Both have the Sierra de la Pila as a backdrop although they are taken roughly 5km apart.
