  1. I have previously used these whitemetal axleboxes with brakes from ABC models, but I seem to be having problems getting them now. Is this company still going and do they still make them? What alternatives are there? Many thanks for your help.
  2. As a professional modeller I don't comment on other people's work in public. Some people may think your work is awesome and that's fine with me, but I still think it is better if you let other people be the judge. Also, my comments aren't negative, but helpful advice. If you title your posts differently on this British forum then you will get a better response.
  3. I can't say I like the description, which I think many would find immodest. I think it up to others to decide if your video/content is awesome or not.
  4. Thank you for all your replies to this topic, they have been most helpful, but if I could impose upon you one more time please. The model comes with approx 12mm diameter wheels, but I note that many coaches run on approx 14mm wheels. Which would be more appropriate for a 4 wheel coach? As usual, thank you in advance for your help.
  5. This is the Hornby model of a four wheel coach. I have a few questions about it: - Is it based on any prototype? - Can it be made into a decent model? - have you any examples? - What milage is there in running a set of these on an industrial layout? - Are there any alternatives? Many thanks in anticipation of your replies.
  6. The buddleia bushes are homemade, but everything else in the two dioramas are off the shelf items. You don't need any special tools either.
  7. You can find out how to build this scene in this month's BRM (July): And this one in an upcoming issue:
  8. Hi guys, I confess that I don't know much about industrial railways, so perhaps you could help me out... Did any industrial railways run passenger trains? (for their workforce perhaps?). If so, what type of carriages were used and what is available in 4mm scale? What were passenger facilties like? I would presume that these would be pretty rudimentary. Many thanks.
  9. Nice to meet you today Dave. Love your layouts and thanks for taking this one to Wakefield. Nice to see you've shaved the beard and moustache off!
  10. The wall and the tree will appear in future BRM 'how to' articles.
  11. Find out how to make this class 31 in the current issue of BRM (July). Part two of the article, on painting and weathering, will be in the September issue.
  12. And I'll be making a further comment about this topic at 5pm tonight......
  13. Model Rail aren't alone in doing this, but does anyone else find announcements about anouncements very irritating? Why not just tell us what you've got to say when you've got something to say?

  15. Dave Rowe’s comment on page 39 of the March 2018 BRM got me thinking. Here’s some classical pieces that don’t seem to get much airplay on Classic FM, but which I think are great: Mussorgsky, Pictures At An Exhibition Planet Suite, Holst , Uranus (The Magician) – why does Jupiter get all the attention? Dag Wirèn - Serenade for String Orchestra, Op. 11 King of the Boeotians by Offenbach British Light Music composers such as: Ketelby, Ronald Binge, Eric Coates and those that are railway related: Rhythm on the Rails by Charles Williams and Coronation Scot by Vivian Ellis
  16. Surely the answer to this one is the presenter that's been glazed in Marmite.
  17. The instructions for making this lineside embankment are in the BRM magazine coming out on 1 February for the printed copy.
  18. That's interesting. You may well be right in what you say. Another question springs to mind though. Will a worm driven locomotive that weighs more take longer to stop when the power source is removed when travelling on the flat at a given speed?
  19. Locomotive wheels act like flywheels. A larger size of wheels and the number coupled together adds to the effect because of the greater mass involved. Perhaps flywheels aren't needed in an O gauge locomotive, but I think they are in an OO gauge shunting loco. I have to agree that the balancing and the quality of the bearings in the motor have to be up to the job.
  20. Does anyone have any contact details for the trader "Country Scenes and Trees" who attended at the weekend please. Many thanks.
  21. Due to space issues, in the Children's Playground feature, it wasn't possible to include an overhead view of the grasswork around the roundabout. So here it is now.
