  1. I've forwarded your post to Roderick Bruce of OO Works.
  2. From the OO Works website (but I don't know where they got the information from): LSWR/SR ‘0330’ Class (Saddletanks) These where built by Beyer Peacock and Co from 1867 for the Swedish, Australian, Belgian, London and South Western Railway and several other railways including British Collieries. A total of 20 been supplied to the LS&WR between 1876 to 1882 for shunting duties at Nine Elms Dorchester, Exeter Guilford, Basingstoke, Northam, Salisbury, Portsmouth, Strawberry Hill, Fratton, Eastleigh, Bournemouth and were also seen on engineer’s train including the construction of the Lyme Regis branch. All entered Southern Railway stock at the grouping and by now some were being re-boilered and only nine received Southern Railway Livery with the last two 0332 and 0334 being withdrawn from Southern in 1933 but ended up remaining derelict at Eastleigh and not being broken up until 1949. In 1925 Colonel Stephens bought Nº127 which left Eastleigh Works painted light green lettered EKR Nº7 and worked until 1945. In 1932 0335 went to the K&ESR and was re-numbered No4 until being laid aside in 1946 and was broken up at Ashford in 1948 having spent 72 years in service. In 1879 an 0-6-0ST was purchased & put to work on the Stratford Upon Avon to Broom Line, it was sold in 1890 to Rothervale Collieries Co in South Yorkshire, (Later NCB.) I believe this was the last example in Britain which was not scrapped until 1959 bearing the number 0.

  5. When would they have been SE&CR brown, before or after SE&CR blue?
  6. I was thinking more of the problem of matching its speed with that if the locomotive hauling the train.
  7. Bearing in mind that they were towed in engineering trains, would it make sense for an unpowered version to be made?
  8. Pictures of Olive Green version now on 00 Works website
  9. Does anyone know when the locomotive-hauled trains are expected to run until? Thank you.
  10. . I've just received an e-mail from Rebecca at OO Works: "LSWR livery is Holly Green, with pea green lining, and the LSWR in Gold."
  11. From the OO Works website: NEW RELEASE Drummond LSWR K10 4-4-0 (Small Hopper) for release Late 2019. Orders now being taken. SR Sage/Olive Lined Nº347 £295.00 + P&P SR/BR Black with Bulleid Sunshine Nº 389 £285.00 +P&P BR Black Nº30382 L/W £285.00 + P&P Expected Late 2019. https://www.ooworks.co.uk/products Brief History A batch of 40 Drummond K10s were built at Elms works between 1901-1902 for mixed traffic work there they earned the nickname “Small Hoppers.” These K10s were mainly paired with 6 wheel tenders because of their intended short journeys although some carried the larger 8-wheel water cart tenders. The K10s underwent little change in their lifetime apart from “Urie” removing the firebox water tube box during LSWR days. In 1925 ten of the Drummond K10s were fitted with stove-pipe chimneys for use on the Eastern section, being based at Gillingham from 1940. They began to lose their smoke-box wing plates. During 1941 five of the K10 class were lent to the LMS and worked mainly from Bristol and Gloucester and in the SDJR. The main withdraw started at the end of Southern days in 1947, 31 entered British Railway stock at nationalisation when withdrawal was so rapid. Only 30382 received BR numbering whilst 389 was the last to be withdrawn in July of 1951 from Yeovil town shed. None were preserved. (No connection other than as a satisfied customer)
  12. I've been testing mine (TAW) on a circle of Peco OO9 Setrack laid loose on a kitchen worktop; both points (St-405/406) and curves are 9" (228mm) radius, below the Heljan recommended 12" (305mm). No issues with the curves, and points are fine taken in reverse, but she derails when travelling over facing points in forwards.
  13. Agree with what you observe regarding families.I appreciate it would only give a guide, but comparing numbers of Family railcards sold with Young Persons and Senior might give an indication.
  14. I've just spoken to a very nice lady at the Hornby CC and she confirmed that if you have already ordered the H class and your membership then expires before it is released you will not have to join again to receive it.
  15. Do you know if it is possible to change the gearing? Thank you. Do you know if it is possible to change the gearing? Thank you.
  16. From their website: Please only make an ‘expression’ if you are certain you intend to invest in the model development, as your ‘expression’ may be the one that puts the model into production. Numbers are tight and anyone who drops out or in fact does not have any intention of ordering will be doing the whole project a disservice. Pre-orders will not open until the ‘expression of interest’ level reaches a break-even figure. Once that limit is reached, we will open the system for pre-orders secured with a £50 deposit.
  17. Keith Revell of KRModels was at Warley yesterday, promoting this venture. See below for copies of his flyer: I asked him what experience he has, and what guarantees he is offering regarding paying up front when he doesn't appear to have a track record of model production. His reply was that his reason for doing this model is because he wants one for his own layout, and that alone is his guarantee that this is a 'safe' venture, as he wouldn't want it to fail because if it does he won't get his either.
  18. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cambridgeshire-46249122 BBC Report: A steam engine hit a car in a crash at a level crossing. The 1912 Y14 locomotive ploughed into the silver Mercedes near Sheringham railway station, Norfolk, at about 11:30 GMT. It is thought the motorist was heading to a nearby golf club at the time of the crash, which badly damaged the car. A police officer who shared an image of the wreckage said the Mercedes driver and three men aboard the engine were unhurt. The engine - built in 1912 - had been travelling at 8mph to Weybourne to hook up with a dining car, a North Norfolk Railway spokesman said. 'Train emerged victor' General manager Andrew Munden said the Sweet Briar Lane crossing's lights and sirens were sounding at the time. "We are all so relieved that this was a low speed collision and that no-one was injured," he said. Services resumed by the afternoon after the Rail Accident Investigation Branch had given permission to clear the site, Mr Munden said. PC Jon Parker, of Norfolk Police tweeted: "Currently on scene at a train vs car incident. Unsurprisingly, the train emerged the victor." The popular Poppy Line route runs between Sheringham and Holt on the Norfolk coast.
  19. With 2019 announcements not far away is it time to resurrect this thread?
  20. Is there any rule / guide as to how many POS you would have with how many POT? Could either type run alone, or would one always require the other?
  21. "No Company in their right mind is going to produce a model of a BRITISH prototype in CHINA" - if this is the case, what are Hornby and Bachmann doing? I agree that Brexit may affect prices, trade etc etc, but Hornby and Bachmann haven't stopped announcing and producing new models. There are very good reasons for not producing HSDT with or without Mk3s, but I don't see Brexit as one of them. Costs have increased long before Brexit was even thought of.
