  1. According to an article by John Lewis diagram AA16 was issued in 9/19 to cover all surviving outside frame timber-framed  brake vans.

The diagram showed it had self-contained buffers, 8 wheel clasp brakes and OK oil type axelboxes, but he noted 'not all received all modifications'. Some also received instanter couplings and an odd one or two screw coupling.

  2. I like your approach to the models which are being produced. May I ask what media and which colours were used to produce the realistic gable end and more specifically the stone quoins ? Happy modelling enjoy.

The model is .040" plastic sheet covered Wills corse stone sheet, the quoins are Evergreen strip. The first photo, taken in 2004, shown the station building as it was then, as a private dwelling, will be used to get the colour right.

  3. Re your unfortunate experience with a Coopercraft 4 plank. If you look at my blog

you will see one of my Coopercraft 4 & 5 plank wagons. They both have etched solebars and Exactoscale sprung underframes and brake gear. The etched solebars were done for my my Ivan Smith of Southwark Bridge Models but he has sine incorporated them into his kit for GW 16ft wagons which includes the solebars, brakes, DC brake bits and tarp rail frames. I see they are not on his web site but I'm sure he will send you details.

The whole thing was designed as a replacement for over thick solebars and although I've used Exactoscale underframes they will equally work with Bill Bedford's.

Also there is an interesting article on improving Coopercraft wagons published some years ago (in the 1979) by the EM Gauge Society. If you would like a copy I will did it out and can send it to you.

  4. I must have missed the first two parts of this conversion method - I've just used the Ultrascale dropped in wheel sets onmy 45xx although it will be getting a new Comet chassis in the further.

However, in part 1 you say you removed one of the Bachmann transfers. I want to do the same with my 45xx, i.e. removed the late 30's G.W.R and replace it with a 1920's Great Western.

What did you use to remove the transfer with?
