Well, the railway career has been somewhat short lived, after 6 months at SWR it's back to my old job. Going to deeply miss the work and the people, however I'll be clamouring to go back when I can!

Cheers for kind words. All is okay(ish), just a bit gutting to have to give up something you've wanted to do for a long time. Nothing sinister behind it fortunately and left on good terms, it all boiled down to money which was just too good where I currently work, something which is sorely needed when trying to get on the property ladder! When you can, go for it. You'll thoroughly enjoy it!

I know this is not a new gripe but...Car Insurance renewal is so infuriating. 20% up on last year, Apply as new customer and it's 20% less as is every other company. Discount for staying is only 5%. Every year we have to waste so much time applying to be "new" customers for different companies. Why?????
-
I've done quite well then! Just renewed mine with Hastings within the last week, and the price was lower than the previous year by about £30 across both cars. Ran a quote through Go Compare and they came out cheapest, and got the same price running it through Hastings own site as a new customer. Phoned them up (needed to change a few details anyway) and they happily matched the price. Saved me an extra £40 across both cars, so a result! First time in 10 years of driving that the price has actually gone down without having to switch companies.

Why do diesel/electric fans insist on calling Steam Locomotive kettles? I that get they boil water but really? Personally find it highly irritating

Quoting me more than my car is worth for a years insurance? That was silly of you cos I can actually do without it and don't need to pay you a penny! Your Loss #RobbingFilthInsurance!

I'm always intrigued by how they come up with some prices. Up until a few weeks ago I had two cars, one was an 18 y/o Mercedes A Class with a 1.7 diesel, the other a 10 y/o Chrysler 300C with a 5.7 V8. The Chrysler cost £670 for fully comp, while the Merc was £580 for the same cover! How's that work out?! I was 27 when both policies were taken out, so expected the Chrysler to be crazy expensive and the Merc cheap.

£263 for a retooled 159 in NSE livery? That is really taking the biscuit!
-
Seems a bargain to me, theres a second hand 159 on ebay (although in SWT colours) for £1,975. Still, if you want to save a grand, there's another for £975. The new one sounds like a steal! In all seriousness though, while that is a lot of money, the older tooling has sold on many occasions for a similar amount, so I guess people are willing to pay those prices.

Do people seriously not know how to use roundabouts anymore?! Second (minor this time) accident on one in 4 weeks. Silly old pr!ck straight lined his lane, wanders into mine and side swipes the front of my car, then has the absolute cheek to blame me saying I drove into his lane! My bloods still boiling about it now!

Funny how many drivers use fog lights when the rest of us can see the moon shining brightly some 1/4 million miles away.

My run of luck with vehicles continues! Managed to write my works van off Tuesday, thanks to an HGV that pulled across my path at a roundabout. Was good of him to drive off without stopping too!
