  1. I was adamant I would not buy another class 14 after the disappointment of the first batch and after a recent review saying the new model still wobbled slightly stood by my decision. HOWEVER ..after seeing one of the new batch at my local model shop and seeing it run on the test track, I thought ,yes there is a great improvement in the running qualities….nice and smooth, so, I’ll give it a reprieve, and bought it ! HOWEVER…After taking it home and preparing to fit the 21 pin decoder, the old traits came back, removing the cab and bonnet (with great difficulty) the cab interior bulkhead snapped off along with the control desk handle, out came the glue. Now I know how fragile this model is and I handle it meticulously, but of those cab steps are begging to break off and lo and behold ..out comes the glue. after fitting decoder and making good ,I turn to the sandbox and brake shoes that have to be fitted by hand. They seemed to slot in the holes much better than my old first model . Great now to run in….however …half a turn of the driving wheels and they bind, well what do you know the con rods are fouling the break shoes and off they fly ….twice, and I repeat I went to great lengths to fit them properly. I will triple check tomorrow and waste some more time , but I think it will be a refund for me. but, good luck with your purchases,…..so disappointed ☹️ . Oh and by the way in dcc ,when it stalls all the lights come on both ends.
  2. Hi Phil, received my 15 today, disappointed with the relief on the nose doors though, hopefully some weathering will sort it out,be interesting how you weather yours..
  3. £ one hundred and sixty nine pounds ….no coincidence then that there was an equity release pop up advert just now on this page…….No way Jose.
  4. Still waddles then, brake gear issues,I’ve been waiting to see what this upgrade was going to be like, and I am really disappointed.I’ve still got the original, now relegated to the shelf. still prefer my Alexander kit then. Not for me I’m afraid ,glad I’ve seen the review ,can’t stand a wobbly model.
  5. I contacted Gaugemaster and had a reply from Heljan saying there would be improvements to the chassis stating there had been SOME ISSUES with the last batches, I hope so as the stable running of mine was very unconvincing. But I’m not re-assured with the latest photos ,which MAY BE from the original batch.
  6. The pop up video player as you all know comes up continuously e every time you change a page, sorry if I’ve missed it but how do you get rid of it …..please.
  7. This is absolutely the problem,I rectified mine years ago after mine burnt ,replaced with a mashima motor and then removed the gear towers and split apart ,removed the brass thrust washer and filed it thinner as it was too thick and refitted it , do both bogies…it has run fine ever since. the thrust washer is too thick and puts strain on the motor as explained previously.
  8. I very much doubt it,just like the first Heljan Clayton motor replacement that didn’t happen.
  9. Try Roxey Mouldings, that’s where I got mine from .
  10. I had the same problem, bad running and motor burning out, previous posters are right ,the gears are too tight and the load burns out the motor, First I replaced the motor with a Mashima, there was one then that matched the original motors dimensions,. secondly removed the bogies and dismantled the gear towers on each one. There is a thrust washer in each gear tower which is too thick. I filed the washer down slightly and refitted into the gear tower, did the same with the second….runs really well and still does after nearly 10 years.
  11. Following my recent posting regarding binding slow running,I have carefully looked at the chassis again and I think the the problem may be the con rod on the driven axle to the centre driver is tight .the centre driver to the front axle is fine with small amount of play.if the con rod hole to the crank pin were reamed slightly, very slightly...it may allow a bit more play and overcome this small resistance, which is why it is ok at higher speed steps. Anybody with this problem check their model and feedback ?
  12. Unfortunately my 9487 sound fitted Pannier has the binding or jerky issue below step 5, following this thread from fellow sufferers I have looked and probed and checked most things ,I even thought one very slightly warped wheel was catching one of the brake blocks... but no not that either ,I’ve also been very satisfied with the running of Bachmann locos except for the 64xx which had a quartering problem,...so quite disappointed , will have to return I’m afraid.
  13. I have attached a photo of my 601 whichhas very very light blue stripes going widthways across the roof in between the panels, and,the fans ,no idea what that is supposed to represent.....it will be faded in. also with a tooth pick / cotton buds, acrylic thinners I’ve removed the weathering off all the glazing as they were all opaque ....very unrealistic ,it looks better now. And next the roof !!.
  14. Hi all, just fitted sound to my mogul 7310, oh I wish all of 00 gauge steam were this easy to install and with the larger speaker too. it is also the best running out of box steam loco I have ever bought and I have quite a lot . The youchoos sound chip is superb , the whistle has lovely authentic echo as well. Just felt I had to contribute.

  17. Hi, same with the streamlined railcar, sorted out by increasing the pressure on the brushes on the armature,...huge improvement.
