  6. Front garden party well under way here and took this earlier before everyone came out.
  7. I really like the Dapol fruit D and the departmental versions that lasted into the 80’s are certainly easier to recreate. Pictured is Departmental NQV DB975340 using individual number and letter combination decals.
  8. The S&T stores-man has arrived to drop off some consumables to the yard.
  9. We had an unexplained event in our depot back in the early 90’s (it’s attached to Darlington station and is around the same age well over 100 years old), our mess room was at the station end of the building and had only one main entrance at the far end, this door was locked via an external padlock (not allowed now) as it was used by the new works gangs. our back door exit was at the other end of the room we were relaxing in around 6pm during our backshift. It was winter and pitch dark out, the lights were off in the rest of the building and our room was divided from the corridor by rippled glass so you couldn’t see in or out properly. As the three of us sat round the table a figure moved from right to left along the darkened corridor passing the three sections of window, only picked out by the light in our room being cast through the glass, for a moment nothing was said, then it dawned on us that the door had been locked an hour earlier from outside by the last of the departing works lads! We jumped up and went into the corridor. Only the toilets were to the left and a long fire escape with a fire door at the end. A thorough search revealed the building to be empty, the fire door shut tight from the inside and unable to be pulled closed from the exterior and the padlock fitted on the only other door! We all saw the figure clearly and never found an explanation. The building is always cold in the hottest of weathers and many other people have had wired experiences in there. That end of the building always gives me the jitters to this day!!!
  10. Amazing day and great fun. It took us the same record breaking amount of time to dismantle the layout as it did to put up. Please see instructions below clip! Important Instructions - please fast forward to the end then watch backwards to see how the layout came down!
  11. It was all going so well! A wiring fault in the fiddle yard???? Which idiot wired that up???? Oh it was me!!! No problem -at first glance it all looks on good order to me!!!

  13. What a lovely morning not to attend an exhibition! Thought we would go for a new set up time record for Charwelton into the 80’s today. Usually takes around an hour to get the boards up but I reckon we can beat that today! are we ready! 3........2.........1............ Go Go Go.........
  14. I’m afraid any puny South West flying interlopers trying to take on a North Sea hardened gull better watch out!!!
  15. Agreed! Another alternative are the Replica MK1 bogies as I believe they are a decent representation. Ps- Another job on my ‘to do’ list
  16. Airbrush in the main with dry brushing to blend and also build up of weathering powders on bogies.
  17. The Lima GUV isn’t a bad model, this one was given 3 links and a quick weather to add to a parcels train on Charwelton, no major work done as it was set in the middle of a rake and passing fairly quickly to avoid too much scrutiny.
  18. Whittingham station featured on George Clark’s Restoration Man a couple of years ago, I watched it at the time and a very good program https://www.northumberlandgazette.co.uk/news/slideshow-home-be-proud-407816 And for sale- https://www.onedome.com/search/property/74660_346200_S?utm_source=trovit&utm_medium=affiliates&utm_source=Trovit&utm_medium=CPC&utm_campaign=organic
