    A dull day when this was captured- a S&T allocated YNO Prawn is found in the yard of the morning 28th November 1987.

    Yes the Chippy is about 100yds up the bank on the right in Ferryhill station. I was posted with the S&T linemen for Ferryhill when that photo was taken and our mess room was just out of sight next to the signal box.

    Capturing the mundane was essential back in the 80’s, a YAA Brill is captured for posterity early morning of 25th November 1987.

    A while since I have had a new beer to report but tonight after a hard fought 3-2 victory, post match beer is Grainger Ale 4.6% from the Hadrian Border Brewery.

    Some really bad news for Belper town- https://www.derbytelegraph.co.uk/news/local-news/flooding-leaves-derbyshire-football-club-3519524 flooding causing devastation for the club! Sad events unfolding for some very good friends affecting their home town club!

    FA cup 1st round Walsall 2-2 Darlington! Great result for the team and 1229 travelling fans! I wish I could have gone today.

    Working weekend in full swing! Electrical testing and upgrades underway and a couple of pics that aren’t usually available- and no it hasn’t fallen over!

    As we are having a working weekend coming up hopefully we will have some progress on our planned upgrades to report -and some pics of the layout! DCC upgrades & working signals are a priority as the operational look of the layout just isn’t quite right without them at an exhibition.

    Good luck to Belper Town in their FA cup tie tomorrow against Notts Co. they will be backed by 1500 travelling fans! -Ps I hope we also get a result at Tamworth to keep us in the draw!!!!!

    Tonight’s post match beer following a hard fought 1-1 draw is Wensleydale Gold- 4.5% from the Wensleydale brewery in Leyburn.

    Another wonderful image- the eye is drawn to one of the most perceived (wrongly) least interesting and mundane items of railway rolling stock, but it eclipses the other vehicles that would normally take centre stage!

    I have never been to Old Trafford to watch Darlo play! Still won't - Trafford FC away in the FA cup for us and the banana skins are laid out once again for our previous woeful cup form!!!

    Many thanks for posting and great to see the electrification training unit again! I started the railway 30 years ago today 11/09/89 and did my training on that very unit in Darlington station as pictured in 1990.

    110k??? it's only just run in!!  It's not so much run in that's the problem- more what it's run over and by how many drivers that make Railway vans less usable at that age

    I personally feel it's more a tarnished lining for any club benefitting from this debacle!! Another bleak time for football! -Good luck to Bury supporters whatever the outcome!

    As mentioned the venue is quite unique and well worth the visit alone if you haven't been before (the building is the re-built 1842 Darlington to Stockton North rd. station).
