I was told many years ago by Paul Jones who Warley exhibition manager at the never make a joke with Pete Waterman using those infamous words Lucky, Lucky, Lucky. Some years Pete Waterman went on to be a regular at Stafford Exhibition, chatting about model railways, and even presenting the prizes etc.

Perhaps it was just as well (lucky) I didn’t bump into him whilst at the show then 🤔🤔😂

Mr Waterman was out in the crowd explaining the problems and maintaining morale. His layout is a truly outstanding enterprise despite the frequent problems it experienced...
Maybe he needed some help...
He should be so lucky…………..Lucky Lucky Lucky

You've fixed the back to backs on the Mk1 electrification vehicle then?
Thank you - Yes but on detailed inspection the instanters couplings where the hook went through body were fouling the bogies both ends! owner Steve managed to remove the culprits!
Ps- it’s a tunnel inspection train but similar roof as the electrification train to walk/stand on. -

It was great to talk in person today at our show (Darlington MRS) about the project!
Following with interest and looking forward to the modelling of the stream (Bilsdale Beck) after our chat!

After a couple of days to come to terms with what has happened my general mood hasn’t improved!
Some people think that we’re/they are the only living things that matter and that they can just kill other living creatures plants and anything they wish, to make either a point/fun/sheer mindlessness when they want!
The tree had as much right to live on this planet as the mindless cretins that cut it down for whatever reason they saw fit!

A sad day not just for the North East but the wider world! https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-tyne-66952980
I’m saddened and dumbfounded today 😢 -reminds me of the vandalism of the model railway show at Stamford (Market Deeping) and the outrage caused by that incident!

The first time I have ever heard/read of someone calling a Maestro "nice" !!!😂
A simply Dreadful vehicle , as all BL rust buckets of that era !!
Not all - My Dad had a red Maestro (C271 RNV) a company car from Granada TV, it was that good he bought it when it came round to change over! Zero rust and never let us down! It was the family car until he got a new Astra in the early 90’s.

The Thirsk crash was a nasty one at the now Gristhwaite farm access. the picture (courtesy of Alamy) shows the overall scene and it was on the Down lines side. The concrete p-way line side building is still there and there are there are still damaged sleepers to be seen as it’s in a quite remote place.

We had a family friend whom I believe worked in the training school at Faverdale - Ronald Davis Evans (also a local football referee and I believe he ran the line in an FA cup final). He put in a good word when I applied for my (still) job in the S&T department back in 1989.

As I’m 50 this year I thought I would hopefully give a little back by doing a fundraiser for Cancer Research UK!
So with football in my blood I thought I would walk to/from the 6 grounds I have watched Darlington FC play home competitive fixtures. The club is supporting me and have kindly helped out with a slot on the web site!https://darlingtonfc.co.uk/news/support-andrew-in-his-charity-walk-for-cancer-research-uk
