  1. Worth every penny £300 to £400. Its obvious it was done by a surgeon. You must make allowances for that in the final figure. I take it you're not a Wrenn collector
  2. Perhaps admin can give us an answer to the mystery of the invisible post ?
  3. I just received notification of a post on here by coachman but when I got here there's no sign of it ? Has it been removed ?
  4. Yes it is a bit much to begin with but you have to see who's selling it as well. They recently had some Lawrence & Goddard OO gauge coaches on auction at crazy prices which didn't sell I would say. Lawrence & Goddard items are highly thought of as some of their work is superb but not at this price. Maybe a few years ago items like this might have reached this price at auctions end but not now. Look at these items here. Some superb models but look at the prices & look at who's selling them Pure madness. http://www.ebay.ie/s...6.c0.m270.l1313
  5. This company seem to be very adept in getting top prices for some very mundane models. They are a very reputable company so maybe E Bayer’s are being extra mad when bidding on some of their offerings. I have wondered about this myself & that’s the only logical explanation I can come up with.
  6. Yes it does seem strange. If they didn't go at £2000 then they are unlikely to go for £2500 but you never know. However it does look like a great collection & I hope he gets what they are really worth. When you consider the amount of time & skill which went into their making I think £2000 wasn't a bad price at all.
  7. I like the name of the seller
  8. I think what people are actually saying is "Have a little think before you write something down" It’s very easy to cast doubt over someone's character from the safety of a keyboard & behind a forum pseudonym. Do a little research first & if having done so then by all means ask the question in a polite manner or ask the seller if you have doubts. No one is suggesting that someone can't have an opinion, just don't expect everyone else to agree with you.
  9. This seller has several other railway items for sale including these http://www.ebay.co.u...=item3378490473 which to the best of my knowledge are not made of metal. It seems they come from a house clearance & he freely admits he knows nothing about trains. He shows plenty of photographs & gives full information on how to pay including Paypal & where the items can be collected if needed. It’s not like he's operating from the back of a van under a railway bridge. Now his spelling or grammar might not be correct in every aspect but surely a little research might not go amiss before we have the execution. Incidentally he now has a feedback of one. Does that make him ok ?
  10. No Stockport was closed for a lynching that day. I had to go to ? instead. After all I wouldn't like to give any place a bad name
  11. Yes, Lynchings are quite unusual in this area. The mob have grown tired of muggings etc It may be an Ebay auction but the reactions are more in keeping with lynch mentality or witch trials. You know what I mean ? No proof & all that. If she floats shes a witch & if she drowns, well we all make mistakes. I'm going to be selling a large oil burning stove soon which contains a lot of metal. Maybe I better think again
  12. I want two tickets for the front row when ever the hanging is taking place. Now I know what they mean by lynch mob
  13. I want two tickets for the front row when ever the hanging is taking place. Now I know what they mean by lynch mob
  14. Makes you wonder sometimes .
  15. Its £4100.00 now. Are they all nuts or what ? This is the biggest case of madness I've ever seen
  16. The heading MALLARD MODELS OO SCALE KIT BUILT In the description I have no idea of the manufacturer of this kit. A little confusing. I really do wonder at times.
  17. Private listing hasn't helped unless you know or have dealt with the seller before & you know he is genuine. private listing - bidders' identities protected This is an open invitation to shill bidding which is after all a cooperation or plan between the buyer & one or several bidders to bump up the price ? With private listings you have no idea who is bidding & what sort of form they have.
  18. How people bid is entirely up to themselves.
  19. I normally don't comment on this thread for good reason even though I regularly look at it. I would agree with kandc_au in post 3586 above. If I see an item I may be interested in I regularly bid up in small amounts to see if the high bidder is prepared to bid more than what I think the item is worth. If the amount reaches a level which I am not prepared to bid past i delete the item from my watch list & move on to other things. This does not make me a shill bidder either. I have a perfect 100% E bay record because of the way I treat both Sellers & Buyers alike. Colin's McLeod's comments in both posts no 3581 & 3582 are correct. Perhaps posters might take more care before posting allegations of wrong doing. I might also add that there are times when the moderation of this thread could be a little sharper.
  20. I regularly buy & sell on E bay & have encountered very few problems.I have sold items for less than I expected on occasions but other times I got more than I expected to get.Thats the way of auction sites. My one problem with sellers on E bay is postage. Its not hard to find out postage costs to various countries based on weight. I'm sure you can get a price list in all post offices showing what the costs are. Apart from one particular seller who we are all familiar with I have seen sellers charge the same postage to Ireland & the other side of the world. When I see an item I would like I work out what it is worth to me & bid accordingly. If it goes higher then that I leave it alone. What someone is prepared to pay for an item is purely down to the buyer whether they are experienced or just beginning.I just wish people would put in a little more effort when selling their items.Give proper descriptions & be a bit more realistic in their price expectations & work out the postage costs properly. Its not rocket science.
  21. I am surprised. This is very sloppy work from people who normally produced fine workmanship. Only for the fact that it is signed I would say it was the work of someone else
  22. Surprising as Lawrence & Goddard usually produced fine work. Even if it was perfect the price is ott
  23. The £145.00 is preparation & packaging. The discount is called a friendship discount as I expect to be fed when I deliver There have also been reports recently in your area of excessive noise emanating from a garden shed. The noise pollution Dept of City Council are looking into it. A spokesman said they expect to have the problem nailed down shortly
  24. Sorry my mistake 150.00 Yes £1.50 is right but delivery will be £145.00
  25. Thats because you forgot the two zeros at the end I told you to get that keyboard fixed. I've got one for £150 if your interested.I'll even deliver it to your house for free.
