If plastic bumpers are not too badly damaged then it is likely that they will be repaired. Some body shops can do this, but there are several mobile guys who they can call in. Unfortunately my son's GF's SEAT Ibiza back bumper was too badly damaged (she left it in a multi-storey, but no CCTV; so they've bought a pattern bumper and some distant relative is going to fit it. Ed

Morning all. I've had an automatic for two years now and still feel out of control when reversing. I have tried left-foot braking but that didn't go well! I now annoy other people waiting for the "old git" in the camper to carry out his reversing manouever (sp?). Ed

If the angles are different, and you make a cross-over with a short and a long radius point, surely the straight bit of the points won't be parallel? Ed

Good morning all. I am now feeling rather stupid, having got my US bridges mixed up yesterday. My first thoughts were correct, the Tacoma Narrows bridge (Galloping Gertie) is nowhere near New York, but I got it mixed up with the Verrazano Narrows bridge in Ian's photo of NY at night. As to the rugby, I don't think the problem was the Ref's wrong decision so much as his behaviour afterwards, Extraordinary! Ed

Morning all. I too regret the passing of the bacon rhind. My only memory of my maternal grandfather is of him having his breakfast in bed (where he spent all his time by then), and giving me his bacon rhind which I remember as being delicious. Pork scratchings are not in the same league. Ed

Good thing I went to check my tyre pressures this morning, the tread on the front r/h Michelin was making a bid for freedom. Went to my tyre man (not been for two years now) and, of course, his advice, correctly, was to change all the tyres due to age. The van is 6 years old, the tyres 7. Done 21000. I've never liked Michelins, am going for Kumho this time. BUT I couldn't find the adaptor for the bl66dy locking wheel bolts! I haven't needed it in the time I've had the van, and thought I knew where it was. The tyre man said it's a VW dealer job, I'm sure I have seen "universal" ones. Anyway I'm now waiting for a very nice man from the RAC to turn up. Hopefully we can at least change to worst one for the spare. When I get these bas****s off I'm going to throw them away. Like most anti-theft devices I'm sure they inconvenience the owner more than the thief. How long would it take a determined tea-leaf to get the wheels off if he wanted to?
