nice to meet you again, I have not posted on this forum for some time, but, decided to have a look round this morning and spotted the alert. Bridge of Orchy, now there's a story, I got it as far as the testing stage, and found out how impractical the circular boards were. I eventually scrapped it, and started again with more conventional boards, and got the track to quite an advanced stage, then I got distracted, and built a OO gauge Black country cameo, and an O-9 15” pizza layout, I shall be getting back to BoO in the near future.

Your panel looks really neat.
I’m not sure how easy it will be to chamfer ply without it splintering. I quite like the way the platform was created on Glenluig although some chamfering was needed. It looks effective.
Hi Bod, that's going back a bit!, from what I remember I would have chamfered the edges with a wood plane, then sanded them smooth, splintering not been too much of an issue as it was all covered up in masking tape after, hope this helps. Nice project by the way

Cradley heath model railway club
Hi all, some of you may of seen an entry in some of the magazine events listings for an open day on the 15th of March, unfortunately, due to a rapid change of circumstances, mainly due to the club moving premises, we have had to postpone this event until further notice. Cradley heath model railway club apologies for any inconvenience caused, and hope we can get the message out before the date, please spread the word.
Our next planed event is our annual exhibition on the 10th of October 2020 at Ormiston Academy Cradley heath
Thanks

Hi all
On the 06/02/2020, Cradley Heath Model Railway club were pleased to signed a lease for what will be our new club rooms. This closes a chapter for the club, but opens up a, new exciting one. Our old space was around 320 square feet, the new rooms will be 3100 square feet!. The place at the moment is a disused factory unit, and it is the clubs job to convert it into a space that will accommodate us, within the clubs capability, this means the next few months are going to be hard work. We move from cramped conditions at Cradley Heath Community Centre, which have restricted the clubs ability to grow, into these spacious premises, in the next month.
To add, we also have a new bigger and more suitable venue for our show in October, I will post details of this in the exhibition section.
I would like to thank my fellow committee members for their hard work on this move, David, Alison, Allan, Frank, Joe, Malcolm, and all who support the club, and have made this possible.
If anyone reading this who is not a member, and wants to get involved with our club, please PM me
Lets get playing trains !

Hi hoffers, thanks for the kind comments Glenuig has now attended 28 shows!. when i built it some 8 years ago, i would never have had dreamed that it would have become this successful, it still gets more invites to shows that i can accommodate in a year. i will use this opportunity to say to anyone building a layout for the exhibition circuit, build something that is achievable, and do it well.
anyway, news on the 2mm project Bridge of Orchy, the original was scraped a few weeks ago, but from the ashes has risen Bridge of Orchy 2, i will report.

Hi
Just to add, if you model the station in the 70's or early 80's you get the chance to confuse everyone by using Reading tubular post WR signals

Bill, I never caught up with you, I managed one and a half hours to see the whole show! And had to cherry pick the exhibits I wanted to see. You never know, there might be another chance to catch up with Glenuig in the north before I finally pull the plug, and there's no sign of that at the moment

You were barely visible a couple of times I passed due to crowds so I guess it went well the seagulls certainly drew a few comments. Glad I had time to absorb it at DEMU so just a quick look Saturday after I saw you and said hello and thought must find Glenuig!
Thanks Paul, i couldn't believe the crowds round me on Saturday, i was getting upset because i couldn't see the 5" gauge Western on the other side!. Glenuig is now back in its usual storage space, for a few months, and then again it will be time to evict the spiders, and feed the birds, but for now, which one of the 20,000 gave me this bloody cold!

thanks Gordon highlander , I have been exhibiting the layout for over 3 years, and it still amazes me the response it gets. Just over 5 years ago, I sketched out what was to become Glenuig, outside a cottage on a Skye on a perfect day when I had an hangover, I never thought that it would become so popular. Exhibition number 20 lived up to all the expectations and more, thanks to all who took a look, the seagulls have certainly caused a flap.
From here, first a rest, then finish my 0-16.5 Dewinton, required for Stafford show next year, and then back to the Bridge of Orchy project, oh, and a full size 37 and 40 to finish off.
Next outing (I think) Liverpool 25-26/04/15

Its that time again, time to get Glenuig out of the cellar and into daylight. Show number 20, the big one, and the third show in 4 weeks. I have not had much to report, and after this one is out the way I have a few months to catch up on some modelling, there has been a bit of a routine, do a show, do the repairs and the maintenance, and then to the next.
One development, is the MK3 SMA, yes the ultimate in flying bird realism, the Seagull mobile actuator, seeing is believing, so please come and visit, at stand D32 NEC, behind Black country blues, you will recognize me from my broad Black country accent.

That's extremely disappointing. I was hoping to visit BCB, have a cuppa, a digestive and a natter...

p.s. if you're not got kettles, what then? Microwave?
If you had read your “Exhibitors manual” (it’s a long read, and may aid insomnia ) it clearly states that the use of kettles is band due to NEC hygiene regulations

We, Cradley heath model railway club, after signing a lease on much bigger club rooms at the beginning of February, have just started to meet having drawn up a covid policy based on a risk assessment. We are now looking at the guidelines closely and we came across this statement
“From 14 September, whether indoors or outdoors people from different households must not meet in groups of more than 6. This limit does not apply to meetings of a single household group or support bubble which is more than 6 people. Community facilities following COVID-19 secure guidelines can host more than 6 people in total, but no one should visit or socialise in a group of greater than 6. Further information on social contact rules, social distancing and the exemptions that exist can be found on the guidance on meeting with others safely. These rules will not apply to workplaces or education settings, alongside other exemptions. See more details on what has changed.” https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-guidance-for-the-safe-use-of-multi-purpose-community-facilities/covid-19-guidance-for-the-safe-use-of-multi-purpose-community-facilities
It looks like the advice would be that if the social distancing is organized into groups of max 6, say working on one project, but still with the usual social distancing requirements in place.
Quite honestly, my thoughts are if you can keep as far apart as possible and not less than 2 metres or 1 metre without other protection (masks are compulsory in the clubroom anyway, then there is no problem
