maybe the abject lack of progress in your project in the past 5 years and seemingly little or no enthusiasm for you to do anything

you can hardly claim this thread as a good sales pitch

Thanks for the comparison Mark. They both look pretty good. I wonder why Bachmann decided to retool for such minor changes NEM coupling pocket perhaps?

If you look closely at the brake lever the tool has at this stage had some significant wear and or damage, which I understand had major issues in getting components out of the die.

  3. Thinking of having a look at getting an old 03 and giving it a makeover refurb.

I have high level chassis kit.

I recall craftsman did a kit but at a loss as to other parts that may be out there that I may want to consider

  4. Bet its all that steam punk stuff that has put them in profit.

or Airfix! just try and buy a kit of late! Military modelling is a little bit more table top, I have invested in a few aircraft principally with the lack of rail shows my bits buying has shrunk.

Compare military traders they have grasped e commerce.

A lot of things are part of history but would be better forgotten.

I grew up in the 50s but that doesn't mean I want to see the return of winkle picker shoes or brylcream.

To put it into a 1970s context, there were piles of rubbish everywhere when the dustmen went on strike.

I bet you are the best of the best with an airbrush.

I just loved the bit about the house numbers being on the fence bordering the ground so they know which door to knock on to get the ball back. Can you imagine Harry Kane doing that?

(I know it'll be the reserve reserve team and all that but it's a lovely image)

They had one of Footballs longest serving managers if not the longest for many years (33) By trade a window cleaner it was joked he would take advice from many of his clients in the Crosby area, area with many Merseyside based footballers calling the Crosby home....

  7. Once you try to find your triggers things can settle.

Mine were red veg, mushrooms and strawberries.

Ibuprofen is worth keeping a supply of.

Also as daft as it sounds Cherry Juice seems to help me, it takes the edge of when you begin to get the tingle a few days before it might go boom!

Have Hornby EVER released a scale-length mark 3 TS, TF or 3-window buffet WITHOUT Central Door Locking (CDL) lights? Does their tooling allow them to do that? The recent GWR train set one (the only Hornby mark 3 I have) appears to have the moulded detail for the CDL lights but these have not been decorated as such (they are just painted the same green as the rest of the body). If Hornby were going to produce it without painting the CDL lights orange you'd think they'd use a body tooling without them if they had the option of doing so.

I read somewhere very recently that someone said these are ex Airfix..

Odd that they they had existed without a release and for the only addition Hornby would make is the door lights! not having the option to just alter the tools!

I remember getting the pocket books in the early 80’s and they came out every 6 months and as you mentioned, the first combine came out in 1985 and I still have mine, suitably grubby

I reckon the loco book was published twice a year, the others annually

  10. A mate who started on the railway with the LMS ended his career in Liverpool Lime Street's top link.

He was one for a laugh too.

A younger driver having done an inspection of his DVT and felt his DVT was missing a pantograph! report it then lad....to which the fitter then bent the younger drivers ear..

Jimmy, driving himself kicking back in his cab doing a ton going down working, was then greeted by a steward with a full brekkie. Imagine the surprise having worked on your own for twenty years, his comment "I almost s*te myself" but the brekkie was good.

Totally, completely missing the point.. but,  we're gonna end up completely off topic if we go down that avenue so lets just leave it there.

    I beg to differ.

    A Mark 3b DVT aint a class 82/1.

The model could actually be cheaper to produce as unlike a coach to convey passengers this has no interior to model after a small cab desk.

Point taken RE the cost/benefit of offering a dummy loco.  I thought (based on the prices I have payed for such parts from Bachmann) that the electronic bits made up a larger percentage of the total price than has been suggested.

In light of this, I wonder how Hornby managed to put together a business case to produce their Class 82/1 DVT?

    Simple its a coach.

    No motor.

Technically not a class either its number range falls within tops for npcs.
