I wonder if there is any scope for the Waterloo shop to look to copy the model from Tornado in Birmingham.
It would be a huge shame not to be able to just pop in a specialist shop in the capital.

Your not coming over well at all.
Maybe take a few hours review what and how your are saying and then reconsider.
I am not taklking on Tim's behalf you post in a public fourm a negative post, you get replies which go against what you want to hear, dont then attack the people who have took the time to reply to you.
Three years is answered by going with one of the quotes I obtained from another advertiser in BRM who replied and supplied the baseboards I wanted in the time frame quoted. The second and more recent request to Tim was for a bespoke stock storage unit. Advertise a service and offer a contact me tab and not responding to an e mail really is extremely poor customer service. Yes we all have spam folders which I check regularly every two or three days. Maybe Tim should be doing likewise as seemingly I’ve been spammed/ignored twice. Maybe you could suggest that to him as seemingly speaking on his behalf
-
Why do many of these moany posts always seems not complete....three years come on man!
Tim is a decent fella and I cant see him not just replying to your email out of spite...maybe it didn't land got caught in spam who knows but if you base your dealings so public in a two emails and thenh coming on here for feedback....hardly the best way to go about it in my honest opionion.
Ian
So having twice used the contact me facility on this website does anyone ever get the courtesy of a response? I emailed a request for some bespoke baseboards 3 years ago with no response and before Christmas e mailed a question regarding a bespoke Stoke stand. Tim’s site does say bear with him as he is busy/too important to respond to enquiries beneath him but 3 years and now 2 months? I really would have reservations dealing with him now to be honest and maybe others need to be wary.

Hi Ralf,
I would be tempted to have access maybe via short casstte type arrangement to allow things to "leave" via the sheds. Also giving the feel of the sheds being bigger than the perceived depth.
id be tempted to tackle the track via copper clad which could fit well with your flatbottom industrial feel.

Hi Ralf,
Worth reading are two works by Ian Rice one the wild swan guide to finescale track published ages ago..
the an apporaich to copperclad again printed years and years ago but not as long ago...
Then the rather tasty work by the 2mm assocation which ok its 2mm but has many ways of have a think of how to do stuff...
As for gauges I have several peoples and its a case of using what feels right for the appplication, bit of a cop out but it is a case of trial and error as it where.
if you want a hand or to look at any of my gauages if you might be who I think you are I can happily drop them in....erm wednesday????
if you aint the person who i think you are well erm sorry!

Years ago Google Earh had some fine images as captured by the German Luftwaffe.
Liverpool was captured in great detail.
You also have the old Os maps that can be bought for a few pounds....
The record office in Liverpool Library is also an excellent resource who maybe able to help with remote searches

Dave - an interesting suggestion. I have not heard of this product before. It seems to be intended for maintaining the exterior finish of guns (!). May I ask what track treated with this product looks like?
it can go a brown to black depending on how many applications.
you an get marker pens of it too which aids application

lets get the words right...a 2d retool to me implies that the exisiting now 40 year old model would seemingly get worked on. for me thats a total no.
the 2d has been used by in ways the real railway didn't...
the 2d was ok for its time but has errors
The 2e hasn't got a solebar it has what looks like one..take them apart and reassemble and hey presto no solebar. ok you should not have to but.
some competition surely aint a bad thing. I am all for getting rakes of stock but Bachmanns 2f release price brought a tear to my eye....

As a full project no.
Still possible.
Hi Ian, did this ever come to anything?

Good evening,
Whilst tidiying up I came across a Bachmann Restaurant Car in Blood and Custard. It was a bargain, but is weathered....
I'm sure I've read about using T-Cut to 'de-weather', am I imagining this? I don't want to remove it all and most is along the bottom.
Any hints or links appreciated,
Thanks,
Yes applied with a Q tip will should do a job for you

I read all this about a new model of a 87 with interest. I have to say that the limby 87 is a easy model to upgrade, and makes a good starting point for someone to practice detailing up.
Replace the bogies with ones off the class 90s. These are 44mm wheelbase, so 1mm too big, but better than the lima ones that are too short. The underframe details between the bogies looks well with the use of a file to remove the excess. SE fineclass glasing and some Heljan wipers for the windows, and wire for the handrails. Hornby class 56 round buffer to replace the originals. If done with care, you don`t even need to repaint the loco, just mask off the fronts and a quick spray with some halfords vauxhall yellow.
Just have a go. It is a easy way to increase your skills. And you can get the bits as spares to make this a cheap project.
Shawplan do some bits which far surpass SE.
-
And another snippet from my source, the 373 while maybe not used as much but have a higher mileage have managed as long in frontline service as most class 55's!

Modern Railways mag is speculating that they are being cut up to ensure no competitor can get their hands on them.
No one came forward....on good authority so Modern Railways is erm wrong

I hope to have a few days in the coming weeks to begin to pour some silica and see how far we can get with some bodies.
Once I am happy I will look to post some images of the bodies...fingers crossed..

Sadly me and a mate have suffered on three successive orders in the last few weeks.
First order was requested next day delivery, it arrived standard delivery. On messaging Hattons they offered the reply that well at least we had not been charged for the postage, despite the fact they agreed that my friend had indeed requested next day to fit in with a deadline we had. we were offered a code for free postage next order.
Next order was a total shambles, they sent items instead of multi packs on contained individual items as opposed to packs, the Hattons contact seemed none plussed and lacked any real desire to put the situation right saying " oh we will have to do a stock take to see if "if" we do owe you" They did and it turned up several days later.
And last week we placed the final order ordering 8 items two packs and two singles, guess what we got a pack and two items. Thursday they trotted out we will need to do a stock take again, as of today they are still to look into the claim. My Mate had asked if I could collect the order for him as I was up around Liverpool, protocols wouldn't allow that! The parcel turned up via Yodel who were less fussy who collected the parcel from the depot!
I like Hattons, I am from Liverpool originally but our current run has given me and my mate cause for concern.

Oh I don't know, posts #109, 116 and particularly 125 seem to have done a good job.
You could say, well don't bother following the thread, however I do monitor it for the day, per the heading, the "new Reatrack DMU" is actually correct.
I'm with Arran!

Did you get it all sorted out?
Hi Andy,
Its still being worked through....
Thanks for asking!

MK1 Wobbly chassis released around forty years ago! at if my memory serves me right at about 75p??.....the buffers looked a little bit like a solid oleo.
MK2 Then you had one with buffers from a design favoured by GW Churchward...possibly but hey it was sprung....
Oh and bits would fall off randomly.
Oh and those buffers....sprung great but did I mention they bore no resemblance to anything oleo related.
The shape was a bit iffy on both Hornby takes.
They then basically invented a box body for their COALFISH, it was soon "retooled"
Bits would still fall off.
They then released batches at increased prices which had them sat on shelves...but its a new generation model, with some major flaws..
Some models you can have a hack at but the HAA family sort of relies on the bucket being accurate, it wasn't.
The next generation deserve to do well.
