  1. Dave, I rarely comment on these pages but I am a daily visitor. I suspect I am not alone in this, but this collection of pictures is amazing and serves as a source of inspiration, confirmation and is a reminder of a misspent youth (and adulthood) when things seemed simpler. I shudder to imagine the hours that it has taken to accumulate this collection not to mention the effort to curate, scan and upload these historical gems. So I want to thank you and the others like you for this service to our community, for someone who cannot easily access books or visit sites to collect information, this type of resource is invaluable. Merry Christmas, TexChem
  2. Thanks so much, appreciate the rapid response.
  3. Figured a good way to get the bogie frame off - have your daughter bump into your fiddle yard while cleaning (minor miracle) and knock your prized possession onto the floor and colliding with an exercise machine on the way down. Good news - now I know how to take the thing apart to clip it back on, so I can now fix the pick-ups (add) on an earlier version. Bad news - in bouncing off the bike, one of the buffers snapped off and does not seem to be directly fixable. An attempt to reattach the buffer to the shaft has failed. So...…, anyone know of a suitable replacement? Thanks for your help. Tex
  4. All chemicals are dangerous, including water, if they are not respected and used appropriately. Some on this forum are known to enjoy ethanol/water mixtures...…., even then, there are choice to be made with its use that are guided by the potential hazards that can ensue. Most solvents, but not all, because they are relatively volatile, are usually more hazardous through inhalation resulting in light headedness or because they are flammable. If you want to know the potential hazards of any chemicals (solvents) that are routinely used in modelling, along with guidance on their safe use then check out their material data safety sheet (MSDS). These MSDS files can be found simply by googling the solvent. To the best of my knowledge, acetone is not a carcinogen but should be used in a well ventilated area to avoid vapor build ups which can be problematic. TexCHEM
  5. Have to say that I am insanely jealous on two fronts. Your rate of progress is amazing - I know others comment on this but still..... You are very gifted - your backscene is fantastic, really. I don't know about others, but I find some of the modelling on display on RMWeb equally inspiring and intimidating. There are times where I experience modeller's block as a result of not wanting to mess it up. The irony is that I am an educator by profession and I know that the only way to learn is by doing, messing up, learning and doing again.
