  1. I've just cut away the front steps and the horrible coupling mounting bar and it make a big difference just need to glue some front steps and think of a way to fabricate some guard irons in front of the bogie wheels.
  2. Being a railroad model but still costing £120 I'm sort of relishing the chance to try and improve it or do a bit of modelling as we used to do in the olden days. Any hints tips sources of parts would be most welcome.
  3. I notice that as a railroad model the loco comes without brake gear, but did or does the 'full fat' Hornby 9f come with brakes.
  4. Anyone got any up to date information on the progress of this loco?
  5. Sorry to be thick but how do you check your order?

  7. some parts will already exist for this model won't they? The tender's done, is the chassis much different to the Crab, the cab will be pretty standard is the boiler much different to a black 5 or 8f jubilee etc.
  8. Give 'em to dentist and doctors waiting rooms, they usually only have women's magazines anyway. Finding a second hand copy of Railway Modeller many many years ago made me realise you could move from train set to model railway and it was still okay to keep and 'play' with your trains as an adult.
  9. When do we get to know tomorrow, is it a kind of 00.01 kind of announcement or can I go to bed?

  11. Even though it's not got LMS on the side it still looks good - no I cannot justify one - I think.
  12. Yea, had the health scare 3 year ago with bowel cancer that hit me out of the blue - now treated and hopefully okay - hence reorgansing life's priorities.
  13. Yes, that's what worries me, time when at work goes so slow, yet a friend who in my mind had just recently taken early retirement reminded me the other day that he'd been retired SIX YEARS. We've been conditioned whilst at work to use every minute to be productive not to waste time etc. Whilst you've got to have some goals to keep you active, once retired you don't dance to another tune (apart from the wife) I won't have to be pleasant or put up with people I don't like, or sign up to the latest company initiative. Money is not everything!
  14. 155 days to go now, less another 44 days if you count weekends - yahoo!
  15. Can someone do a picture of an A1 and A2 side by side - I'm struggling to see the difference.
  16. We'll I've ordered one even though I try to shy away from things GWR, just couldn't help it. Website was a bit slow when taking payment.
