Someone who sells the new stuff doesn't talk the the person selling the second hand stuff, or is it a ploy to make you think you've snapped up a bargain? I wonder if it's worth popping in and buying 4 new wagons and then coming back an hour later to see what they'll give you for them?

Each time I visit the NRM I never fail to be blown away by the enormous size of the Chinese steam locomotive it's a brute. I suppose due to its size it would have had to arrive at the NRM by road but even so it would have been a tricky operation. I don't suppose these's anything similar preserved in working order?

I think it's fixed and part of the moulding, you'd have to cut it or take my option of covering it with a thin layer of crushed real coal - big improvement.

Anyone know if it will fit back in the packaging once you've fitted the detailing parts?

The review in the Modeller says the front steps can only be fitted if the loco is only going to be used for display purposes but my Crab 2-6-0 which I think uses basically the same chassis, copes okay with second radius curves, it's going to look a bit odd without the front steps which are such a distinctive feature of this class.

Having spent some of my youth involved with the restoration of a small Andrew Barclay saddle tank I an struck by how similar the Peckett chassis is to the Barclay, another class of industrial tank loco which I feel would also be very popular.

I'm trying to find some replacement brushes for the Hornby Dublo 0-6-2 tank but looking on eBay they are nearly £10 a set. Anyone know of a more reasonably priced alternative?

For those of us with sharper curves is there any merit in filing down the little tender buffers to get a little more movement on the close tender/loco coupling?
