  1. Found a hard disc that matches the motherboard I'm trying to use. Fortunately it appears to work reasonably well. Time for a fresh install, tomorrow after sleep and work.

  2. STOP error trying to resurrect hardware a decade old to run legacy software. Now I'm stuck :-/

  3. Was thinking forward to the weekend and then remembered he's committed to TINGS.

  4. X factor on TV can only mean one thing: guilt free model room pass.

I'm watching Gilbert & Sullivan at the Proms :-)

  5. This afternoons modelling it going badly. Might give up before I destroy something more valuable.

  6. Has put the most recent purchases in a cupboard: out of sight and trying to not let them distract me further.

You try sorting when you move house... temptation and distraction predominates profusely!

I'm not intending to move. You haven't seen the mess I live/work/create in when upstairs! The problem is having decided I might like some sprinters one day I found out that GF had already released them and these things are, more often than not now, buy it now or risk eBay prices in the future. I do like the level of detail though, and if this is the reason there are so many diesel/electric modellers then I can understand why.

  7. email to say my 150/2 has been despatched :-)

  8. Cl150/1 appeared in the post yesterday. Just waiting on a 150/2 to complete this collection. I think I'm at the bottom of the slippery slope :-/

I ordered 10, received 11, broke 4, fed the carpet monster the same, found 2, burnt finger, swore lots and have sore eyes but afetr a few trials and false starts there are 2 soldered in parallel atop a piece of micro tube and 3 spare so I win, I think: I have to see if they fit in the body of the signal when the next part is finished.

Keep at it - I'm looking forward to seeing the finished job.

  10. It's a very slippery slope. Today, in between watching Olympics and doing chores I've been scouring the Internet for reasonably priced 150s. :-/

      I have a 156 and now both a 150/1 and 150/2 on their way.

  11. Never thought that I'd go to the dark side with those wheeled boxes, but have today succumbed to a Dapol 156.

One day, a long way away, it might have a diorama to run on, but it will need a motor first because it's a dummy unit. Aside from the TV adverts featuring 125s they are my memory of rail transport from my childhood. I've bought one while I can get still get one at RRP rather than the inflated prices of eBay in the future.

  12. Been to the Olympics this morning. Just catching up on the cycling action from this afternoon.

  13. Finished some wagons \o/

Thanks guys. According to this doctor there isn't anything in my eye :-/ a confusing relief. That's the good news. The bad news is that the model shop is closed on Tuesdays :-( however the urge for an articulated box on wheels has not gone away.

Apparently so. There were some very excited drivers talking about it in the cab. The cab is a very strange environment and it must be very hot and noisy in there while it's running.

  17. got etched primer sprayed yesterday - some UFOs are closer to being FOs

  18. Made further progress on Mathieson wagons yesterday. Not what I planned to do, but productive nonetheless.

Patience people: they still need their loads finishing and the under frames need more work. I might have to buy some powders. On a related note why do GW washes smell like sick?

Pete, I have my next blog entry part written but it's really not for the feint hearted - it involves easitrac switch butchery.

  20. Still spending more time deconstructing than putting right

  21. Been shopping: A pair of calipers for my lathe, two Dapol Halls that were on sale in the local model shop and a Ratio signal box interior.

  22. Work BBQ/Hog Roast today! Om nom nom

  23. Two and a half hours milling grafar pannier bodies so far. First stage nearing completion.

      Phil Copleston

Blimey. Anything left after two hours hard grind?

    2. richbrummitt

      richbrummitt

Yup. It took me about an hour to take out the material for the motor to fit, going steady. The first of two bodies has now lost most of it's footplate. Just the second one to finish off and then back to their owner for finishing. I've taken some pictures, but I'm going to let him write things up showing the whole process.

  24. Needs more hours in these days

  25. turns out you can cut up to 0.020" plasticard in a staples A3 guillotine as long as the wife doesn't find out.
