  1. secondly a peak, with route indicators suitably changed, although not the best pictures showing that, pretty sure I posted front end pictures earlier in the thread anyway.
  2. a couple of locos made the trip to the max stafford kennels and returned looking decidedly more 'lived in' then when they arrived. I'm absolutely delighted with how they've turned out as to my eye they just have the correct amount of road grime, both atop and bottom. firstly
  3. Only right to start a layout thread, :-) and let us see what you've been up to.
  4. Ian Some good replies already, and for sure there are many different ways to skin a cat regarding this task. I posted on another thread my own approach and a particular eraser pencil that I like to use, I've done a load of renumbers using this technique and I always find it works cleanly. Here's the link http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/55404-best-way-to-re-number-a-farish-57/#entry684858
  5. The destination of said working would have to be of course TranCentral....
  6. superb work, the use (or rather lack of) of the space is so much more realistic than cramming as many buildings and features into your available space. Its an easy mistake to make but you've steered well clear of it and its to your benefit. The sight of trains moving through a realistic landscape makes all your planning worthwhile. Now if this had been a Scottish borders layout I wouldn't have been able to control my excitement!!
  7. Superb Jamie, great scans as well. I'm in the process of assembling a kingmoor-millerhill consist so these pictures were a great help.
  8. Loved the picture of 47543, always used to have an air of excitement seeing a silver roofed duff up this end of the country, usually part of SF or ex-SF allocation.
  9. thanks for the posting the videos, just spent an enjoyable ten minutes watching those!
  10. super work, really like the attention to details with all the signage around the doors etc etc
  11. What the hell is the chap in the foreground up to? A single fish?
  12. Latest N gauge addition to the fleet Farish don't do a split box peak, so took a bit of fettling and some Etched Pixel etches. Not quite finished, still need to figure out something to represent the jumper cables below the split boxes.
  13. The like/unlike button for these posts just doesn't seem adequate... love the stuff of 60052,
  14. Really reminds me of Lower Granton Road there, just at the junction where it runs into Starbank eventually. Not a million miles at all from your intended target but it really 'feels' like there to me, quite superb. I've driven past there a million times and only just remember tracks being along there when <hovis on> I were a lad. Superb stuff, it just feels 'so right'. Its a toss up between this and the equally superb Scottish Whinburgh and Slitrigg.
  15. Look forward to more pictures as and when, this is one of my favourites. <heads off to look at Kevins blogs as well>
  16. I just popped the original glazing out it, now put back in. If you are wondering about glazing products for unusual window apertures then I can wholeheartedly recommend this product http://www.microscale.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=MI-9&Category_Code=FINPROD&Product_Count=8
  17. Early days Dave and nowhere near finished, I'll keep the finished item for the WR models thread Pretty easy to make up the actual indicator boxes, just watch the folding. Fixing boxes on is also straight forwards. Only difficulty is filling in the door mouldings. That can be done carefully but its the filing flat that I found troublesome.
  18. Good point, doors were smoothed over and she does have the grey stripe.
  19. Pick a peak, any peak! Just finished a Farish split box conversion, so now have a split box model showing 1M10 and 1S64. Just needing an identity. Its a nameless wonder as well, so anyone care to volunteer a personal favourite, or a route regular or one that was a particular beast? Always like it if my loco numbers have a story behind them, I'm struggling with peaks as I only saw a small fraction of them in their last days in BR blue. So split box, BR green, no name is the criteria. cheers
  20. nice, passengers in buses and carriages are nearly always overlooked. looks so much better when they are included.
  21. The fan is a nice touch....would it be prototypical to paint it red and then weather it. I think I done that on one of mines and it does draw subtle attention to the fan area.
  22. Good to see this awaking from its slumber again!! always good to see what you're up to! J
  23. That's the chap!! Looking forward to seeing the Dapol model though.
  24. Not sure if this has been seen before or not, don't think I've seen it anyway but I liked it anyway http://www.flickr.com/photos/10257146@N05/6668659651/in/faves-mac1961/
