  1. Does anyone know when the green one is due? I've got one on order but no sign yet :-(
  2. loco looks superb there, but so does that layout.
  3. Roy Don't know if you'd be interested but Scalescenes do a printable sheet of station name board which allows you to configure the name you want printed. Really nice item and only a few pounds from memory, and can be printed as many times as you like with as many different names. I used them in N gauge and it worked quite nicely
  4. Can almost smell that smell from that picture!! If only jpegs contained a smell element :-)
  5. a vote from me for detailing the O1 looks like you could add coal into the tender as well by the looks of things.
  6. is always waiting for things to dry

  7. I do believe depending on where the particular loco was overhauled then the numbers could be bigger, however from personal memory I don't remember them being as chunky as all that. I used to see blue 26s at Millerhill as a matter of course. 26001-26006 in particular with the slow speed control for Cockenzie but it will have been 20 years perhaps since I saw one in the flesh! As Stu says, if that's the only problem then we can easily live with or amend ourselves to suit.
  8. Wow, that last post worth of photos was just superb. If you ever get a chance you might like to try and use weathering powders onto your paper structures. It does work quite nicely and just takes the edge off the printed brick colour and overall uniform tone of the brickwork. I tend to brush blacks and browns into corners and crevices. Worth practising first before you ruin any of these superb structures you've made. They really are superb.
  9. Oh yes, we do like that picture. Smell of hops is still there, although it doesn't have the same effect from a 334 :-(
  10. Pete Thanks for posting, looks good doesn't it. One thing those numerals do look 'quite' big, is that supposed to be a 'Glasgow' works numbering job. Maybe they don't look so big in the flesh.
  11. Good news RE the new home Dave, I know it'll be a while off but I for one can't wait to see what you decide to do. A full scale HA would be damn nice, but equally so would the gardens I have to say. If you do HA will you model the smell of hops from the brewery. Always reminds me to this day as I bowl into work, shame the rows of 26/27s, 47s, 20s etc etc have been replaced by 158/170s and not much more.
  12. Good enough for me, intentions well and truly signalled.
  13. Lovely stuff Simon, the scenery looks and feels just right Russell H told me to look here, and it was certainly worth the jump over. I take it all your locos are good runners then ;-) Good luck with the railway modeller as well, will need to look out specially for that issue. cheers CJ
  14. Thanks 'Chard for your kind words, always appreciated. Can't take credit for the weathering work, that came courtesy of a talented friend from Glesga. I think he's done a fine job, I know some don't tend to like the stained look and would perhaps might even say its overdone compared with the superbly subtle work of Mr Stafford. However for me I do tend to like the workstained look for some reason. 2mm is really kicking on, with Dapols class 26 imminent (I've one pre-ordered) and Bachmann's A1 due any day now its truly good times for the wee modellers. Now if only my eyesight would just hold out.... Still on the workbench is a halfbaked yellow striped Merlin and also a Peak. I really ought to concentrate on the scenery and layout at some point
  15. Finally, another 4MT, and a Hawick stalwart now and probably in a distinctly more grotty state than Hawick would have ever allowed her to get in, but hey I like dirty locos!!
  16. Another new superb Bachmann Farish model with a mince round ;-) in situ to remind you all of the bloody smallness of these things :-). I swear my eyesight is in reverse gear because of the size of these things
  17. Another completion but also seen before so apologies for duplication, but her she is in her final guise. Again workstained. 80124 ended up at St Margarets in later life I believe via Dundee, and I think I came across photographic evidence on Borders duty. Showing some of the shortcomings of older models (in this no footplate steps or pipework).
  18. A couple of completed additions to my north end of the route based roster .... 61244 in a more workstained guise. You'll need to excuse the smokebox shedplate which remains from the original model, I just can't do 2mm shedplates!! It was torture even just getting the buffer beam markings right in 2mm. Thanks to Bachmann Farish these days for really upping the standard of N gauge models. This one is a beaut, and has already been joined by another one awaiting an Edinburgh identity in due course.
  19. Any mention of the green one's release date?
  20. Lovely class 26 there Dave, just spot on. Nicely timed pictures to whet the appetite for us N gaugers with the imminent release of Dapols 2mm version. I've already paid my deposit for one. Farish's A1 also due, as is there new 101 DMU.....where's that savings tin.
  21. Just started work on a Graham Farish peak, D163. Most useful blog indeed. As always top quality info 'Chard. Muchos gracias
  22. Hi Simon When working with the N-Brass lamp irons, I try and get them in a vice or strong pair of flat nose pliers, I get them into position and then hold tight, and at the same time bending the bit required to form the L shape. After a bit of practise I can just about do it most of the time, did take practise though. In terms of getting rid of the bits of flash I do that under a magnifying glass with a brand new scalpel blade, before I carry out the bending process. First couple of times I used the N-Brass lamp irons I got the same effect, looked pretty much OK until observed under harsh photography conditions. Also somebody does nice brass oval shaped buffers that suit the 4MT just lovely. Can't for the life of me remember, but they were an improvement on the standard offering. Well worth it. Tihink it was someone via the NGS shop actually, I believe you recently joined?
  23. Thanks for continually giving us more pictures, they truly are a treat, in particular for us with an interest in the area.
