  1. Tunnel mouth are is really looking good now, those details are really worth doing.
  2. Now that's what I'm talking about...... Lovely loco (albeit a piece of junk), lovely variation in the rolling stock and superb scenery..
  3. Not so bad for us waverley route layout owners with A4s and limited train length!!! new Dapol A4 plus some of these lovely new Farish wagons anyone :-)
  4. ermmm yeah, good luck with your sanity!! most modellers nightmare is the wiring, at least it is mines. I've got a second sub-panel on my workbench awaiting wiring. I just can't get round to it, so far I've built a pair of grampus wagons, started adding headcodes to a Farish peak, started scratch building a signal box. All to avoid doing the panel wiring. Keep up the good progress though, I admire your commitment to the cause. I wish I had 10% of what you've got.
  5. Well done on picking on something thats often overlooked even in larger scales, it just completes the picture and makes the tunnel look right.
  6. No very useful indeed, thanks. I'll need to take a closer look at these I have bought. I have to admit at first glance they did look OK but what you've done looks spot on and I'd like to replicate it quite closely. Thanks for your excellent reply.
  7. Philip Was at the Glasgow show today, and having been inspired by your excellent looking brickwork I picked up some Slaters brickwork, However it was in really quite small sections, maybe 2inch by 1 inch, something like that. I presume that's what you meant by tiny n guage sheets then I'm guessing by the lack of obvious joins in your brickwork that you've either a) used bigger sheets or B) been extremely skilled in hiding the joins?
  8. looking forward to a second stab at Glagow Exhib

  9. car lot stores portakabin looks superb...nice work, all these little things add up to a great whole.
  10. Agree pretty much with the above posting, saw your layout on Friday at Glasgow and will again tomorrow, and the pictures here are superb but nothing compared to in real life. The DCC audio soundtrack of type 2s just made it all the sweeter.
  11. The super-elevation which can be seen by virtue of the 101 really does look the part, you've got it just lovely. Can I ask what did you use as a basis for all the brickwork, it too looks spot on?
  12. It might be obvious, but how do you enlarage?
  13. Based on this tiny picture....I'm going to go for Haddington too... http://www.scran.ac.uk/database/record.php?usi=000-000-471-322-C
  14. Great to see your progress, I'm sure the hordes from the Waverley Route sub-forum will be round drooling in due course
  15. ah wiring ..............the current bane of my life just now too.... somehow non-photogenic progress just doesn't ......well .....feel like progress
  16. Well I knew you 2mm guys were good, but that does impress me ......
  17. If an interloper can be allowed from the uncouth world of N, can I possibly ask what does the 2mm world favour for the use of locomotive lamps? In particular BR era. I've used the Springside lamps on a few loco's and whilst they are OK I do tend to feel that there must be something better available from the 2mm world.
  18. Nice to get a progress update, I for one will never tire of seeing pictures of any progress you make. Feel free to post as many pictures as you can be bothered, as a fellow Waverley Route modeller I find this layout hugely inspirational, albeit in the wrong scale!!
  19. Agree with Gloucester here.... you just see stuff and think 'that looks right' and 'that looks right'. Superbly observed, stuff that a lot if not most modellers, certainly not in N gauge, would even consider bothering with.
  20. Always nice to see what you're up to....and more lovely lovely stuff, Would you be upset if I've also got a 61347 in the pipeline albeit 50% of the size!! I've renumbered a BachFar B1 and was looking at that number area, as if I remember there was a whole batch from St Mags in the 6134x range. I just can't remember what number I chose, and the loco is on loan with a friend !!
  21. nice stuff there, and a few definite clues as to why 'smokey brae' was indeed 'smokey'.
  22. Brilliant stuff, superb to see N gauge getting used to its full benefit in a smallish space, you've superbly captured the feel for a modern built up environment. The observation and standard of buildings is what makes it for me, a nice and correct mixture of old and new just really does give the right feel.
  23. :-) Great mind think alike, although you'd only be third 2mm Strang Steel on this forum!! No shame in that so get cracking and be sure to post the results. Always great to see more n gauge stuff, especially WR related. Look forward to Holyrood that's for sure, if I didn't have personal reasons to do Foxhunter I'd have definitely done Holyrood or St Johnstoun (although they did beat Hibs at the weekend so maybe not ;-) ) I've got a 3rd A3 lying in bits, missing a smokebox, its already renumbered 60041 with cabside stripe and that would complete my A3 64A trio of 41,52 and 100. I don't know what I'll do when this Dapol A3 arrives, although I have to admit I'm put off by the tender-cab driveshaft, but I do hear its not too invasive visually but we'll see. Also imminent arrival to the fleet is another B1, I can't remember what I renumbered her. Not a namer, just a workhorse, think it was 61354 perhaps? I can't remember and its off getting weathered. PS BTW I got a reply from Hans @ N-Stars regarding a turntable, so thanks on that front.
