I would love to make stuff with GIMP but its hard to use????
-
I think it looks great.
You will always get those who would say, this and that is inaccurate, that isn't right etc.
my advice is to tell them to go and get lost, that model you have made looks stunning, and if it means that you bashed a T9 and a good ol' kit in the process then that's fine
I take it this is EM gauge (you probably mention it somewhere but i have only paid attention to the main article!

well that makes saving a tad easier!
(trust me, even at 18 i consume an awful lot of sweets!)
if you want any help or someone to talk to you have me and the other guys, don't worry bout them, they are lovely guys and know a lot,
-
also sounds a bit desperate, but it can be handy at times.... if you get dinner money, try to save a bit of it each day, that will help too
-
ok kid,
good word of advice, whatever money you get, save it. forget buying sweets, save the money.
I'm 18 and will be 19 in four months, I have been collecting seriously since age 7 and all that time until i started working, I saved every bit of money i got given. for example say that you got £2.50 a week (as an example) over a month that's about £10 after 5 months you should have enough to buy either a new set or get yourself a decent set up of your own
also, do your family know you are into trains? cause if they do, if they ask you what you would like for xmas or your birthday ask them for a trainset, it's worth a shot we all have to start somewhere

were these things prototypically rounded on the ends? because i thought they were Squarer.
Anyway, it looks spiffingly fantastic can't wait to see it completed.

what about a 4-GUV?
-
i was tempted to get one of those chassis and do a railcar on it, like the ones used in east Anglia and lancashire in the 50's and 60's.... it is possible and those chassis are good value, so maybe an idea for you?

I think the DR logos will probably be most likely to be legally tabooed rather than DB. Perhaps the DB name, logos and affiliated materials have the rights owned by DB
-
Might be farfeched here but is it based on one of the experimental Leyland single car units?

Links aren't working Andy, is that a Problem at this end or my end??

Hey Jam,
yes you do not want overcrowding as it will spoil the look of the layout, by all means do it if you have the room on a larger board but if not i wouldn't advise it, when you overcrowd things it starts to look messy rather than neat, and instead of tasting the bananas and apples as well as the oranges in that smoothie, it starts to become very bland as you added too much into it (sorry for that acronym as such, lol)
anyway, Best Regards,
Bruce.

I have had many experiances of viewing large and small layouts, and particularly with the small one i can watch it for ages, such as one of Brant Hickman's layouts (friend of mine), as it has so much detail in it, though fictitous it is also based heavily on a typical Great western practice, though not a 'tail chaser' it has plenty of movement.
I think you just need a balance of all four things to make it a sucsess IMHO. Tail Chaser or not, if you have something that captures the mind and imagination of the viewer, you are on to a winner.
Also remember it is about what YOU want and not always what the exhibiter wants, but keep it in mind

beg pardon, is it your own cut production?
-
can i ask where the kit is from? it looks quite interesting.

don't sneeze near the T gauge 139.... and make sure it isn't that baked bean colour or you could end up with a crunchy bean with the next fry up....
