  1. Aye, Blue and grey is still used by Wrexham and Shropshire amongst the odd other engine and bit and bob here and there.
  2. I will agree the Lion one looks much better than this colour combination. BTW the lion shot is based on an image taken at the GCR and that engine in unedited format would have been Sparrowhawk. Again, good work Paul, i love them! Bruce.
  3. Something of interest for you guys while Paul is doing the reserve photoshops: My link i was both Shocked, amazed and saddened by this story
  4. I think the DR logos will probably be most likely to be legally tabooed rather than DB. Perhaps the DB name, logos and affiliated materials have the rights owned by DB
  5. Might be farfeched here but is it based on one of the experimental Leyland single car units?
  6. Bit late jumping on this, but that's our engine! (i bet half of leicester didn't even know that engine exists) Good photos people, way better skills (or models) of mine, keep it up, am loving it edit* that failed epically..... probs guess what the pic is...
  7. Until the collapse of the Soviet Union, Russia had a very large Well maintained reserve of steam and diesel engines in case of the outbreak of war, a power cut, oil shortage and even in the case of a nuclear war, let alone any other.... After the breakup of the USSR and ever since, these reserve engines have been left to languish and many are now unserviceable, however, special railtours such as the white night express do employ some of these engines for the (i think) 5,000 mile trip around Russia. Keep them coming Paul, i love your photoshops (particularly that western)
  8. Anyway, bringing the topic back into context (and the fact i don't have photoshop).... what would a class 47 or HST or something modern and passenger service orientated look like in the old fashioned Great Central Green livery assuming that the name Great Central could be used again for mainline services? :icon_question: just a thought....
  9. we know about that in Leicester, particularly cyclists like me cos we get blinded by the cursed lights when the conditions permit. we also get a lot of glare off the wet roads particularly of the DAFs Arriva use....
  10. Links aren't working Andy, is that a Problem at this end or my end?? LT.
  11. Jo, Being a Fellow Maiden fan, I absolutely LOVE that HST :D Thanks for taking the time to create it and thank you very much for sharing it with us Bruce.
  12. Hey Jam, yes you do not want overcrowding as it will spoil the look of the layout, by all means do it if you have the room on a larger board but if not i wouldn't advise it, when you overcrowd things it starts to look messy rather than neat, and instead of tasting the bananas and apples as well as the oranges in that smoothie, it starts to become very bland as you added too much into it (sorry for that acronym as such, lol) anyway, Best Regards, Bruce.
  13. I have had many experiances of viewing large and small layouts, and particularly with the small one i can watch it for ages, such as one of Brant Hickman's layouts (friend of mine), as it has so much detail in it, though fictitous it is also based heavily on a typical Great western practice, though not a 'tail chaser' it has plenty of movement. I think you just need a balance of all four things to make it a sucsess IMHO. Tail Chaser or not, if you have something that captures the mind and imagination of the viewer, you are on to a winner. Also remember it is about what YOU want and not always what the exhibiter wants, but keep it in mind LT
  14. beg pardon, is it your own cut production?
  15. can i ask where the kit is from? it looks quite interesting. thanks, LT
  16. yes GCR director, in two liveries or three... LNER Br Green and BR black Butler Henderson will appear in BR Green
  17. 33116 is preserved at the GCR I believe, if so there are a few pics floating around their site and on the web which may be useful for details, don't know bout livery...
  18. IMHO if history hadn't turned out as it had, i think the 71's would have still been in service, they were good engines which did the job, like we said Gatwick expresses would have been a good job for them! anyway back to the pics...
  19. well since December and the Xmas season the last few weeks (6 or 7) have been a right mess (seeing as i'm a student). two weeks back from the xmas holidays and exam season started preventing me from modelling, this led to a back log which still has yet to be finished. anyway, moving more to positive aspects, i applied for History and Politics at De Montfort University, had an intervoew and got an offer two days after which i have been very quick to accept . zoom to today, and hopefully i shall commence on my project, starting with the drawings. I hope to build an 'N gauge' (or 2mm as the measurements will be) version of the Triang Horsebox. This Horsebox was the horsebox model used as a converter wagon at the time of the range transfer from Hornby to Triang (will get a pic at some point, but not found one yet ). i hope to recreate this by building it in plasticard and utilising a peco wagon chassis kit, when i find one... Progress is slow, but thought i would say something just to let you guys out there know that i hadn't abandoned the blog hopefully drawings and pictures will follow. Best reagards, Bruce;)
  20. i would like to say thanks for the link and i enjoyed that Deltic very much
  21. sorry to ask but im useless with photo software, and i dont have photoshop.... but what about a Deltic in Intercity Livery? if someone could do that for me i would be very greatful as its always been a pondering thought, likewise a Hymek in intercity livery. thanks in advance, and i love all thses livery variations we have on here so far, Many thanks, Bruce
  22. hey folks, new thing to me is this blogging.... anyway, i have started this thread to show my model railway which is in N scale, My Z gauge layout and any other model railway related junk (lol) that i want to share with you. i am also going to attempt to scratchbuild models in 2mm scale, in other words N gauge, and this shall be a large learning curve for me, as i have never built any kits, or ever done a project like sratchbuilding before in my life. i will update this blog as i make progress with what i am doing and i also hope to upload pictures to help explain whats going on. so until next time, best regards, Bruce B)
  23. you shall find that the horsebox mentioned at the top is the same as the 1960's/1970's Tri-ang model, not to be confused with the wrenn version, but the tri - ang version was based on the LMS design and was numbered B547 on the model. hope this helps Best regards,
