  1. Video of the move out of the Heritage Centre is on YouTube at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBjpKKkPsGc&feature=youtu.be
  2. The provenance is sorted. Having looked at what I assume was the original listing for this item (and having acquired a lower height van kit in a similar state from the same eBay seller out of interest) I can confirm that it was originally a Coopercraft tall Mink kit that the previous owner had started to convert to a fruit van by carving the additional vents into the sides and ends. He had actually made a much better job of it than I reckon I could have achieved, though I accept the vents are probably more pronounced than they should be.. Ken...
  3. This should be a link to the Archer tutorial. Doing it this way works for me, others may have a different approach: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aptnvFeEqio Ken...
  4. Just picked up a flyer for the next batch from the Dapol stand at the Alsager RA show at Crewe. Not much about this elsewhere on the net so here is the essence. 4D-011-005 to be No12, Lined Choc & Cream, GWR Monogram & Valance 4D-011-006 to be No10, Lined Choc & Cream, GWR Monogram 4D-011-007 to be W11, BR Lined Chocolate & Cream 4D-011-008 to be W8, BR Lined Carmine & Cream 4D-011-009 to be No16, Lined Choc & Cream, GWR Twin Cities 4D-011-100 to be No17, Express parcels Choc & Cream 4D-011-101 to be W17, Express Parcels Crimson There was what I take to be the "1st shot evaluation" of the Parcels Car body in the showcase, a grainy photo of which can be found on the Antics site if you search on the part number. According to the flyer the new variant has a new shell, new glazing and "new interior with a fine representation of the parcel shelving". Expected in shops End Q2 2019 (it says) with current indicated pricing of £147.95 for the basic cars, £174.95 for the DCC versions (suffix D), and £297.95 for the DCC & Sound versions (suffix S). This latter version can apparently be pre-ordered now. "Dapol reserve the right to adjust the price and details" quite naturally. Just what I've read, I have no further info, no connection other than a fan of the railcars... Ken...
  5. A few snaps from today of 4277 which is currently visiting the Churnet Valley Railway from Dartmouth Steam Railway, and painted in BR unlined black as part of the deal apparently... 7820 Dinmore Manor also in attendance Pity about the weather, but I have a feeling the weekend will be worse... Ken...
  6. Email address is/was wagonloads@hotmail.co.uk. If that fails you may be able to contact them via Model Railways Direct who still have some product in stock. To me it looks very much like Woodland Scenics Buff Ballast in either 'medium' or 'fine' grades'
  7. Might be worth checking out Ebay seller passion-132 (based in Belgium) who has various sizes of Evergreen T-section available including the apparently elusive 761. I ordered two packs of 4 off 761 for £7.69 in total plus postage of £3.57 (Euro converted) last Wednesday and they were through the letter box this morning. No connection other than as a very satisfied customer Ken...

  9. Two recent posts on Dapol Digest that may be of interest to those that haven't seen them: From a week ago: "The samples have arrived and there are a few changes needed" - I guess this is the decorated samples. And from yesterday: "We are just finalising the lighting for these railcars. We intend to have the following lights working. Directional - forward front three lights showing white and one red on rear. Cab lighting directional Function key for interior lights in DCC Would appreciate comments in regard to prototypical operations" https://digest.Dapol.co.uk/forum/main-forum/gwr-railcar/project-managers-blog-ae/474-oo-gwr-railcar-opening-post
  10. I was thinking of going down this route for ballast wagons until I discovered that Simon at Slimrails is still supplying the 1945 built 20T P23 (kit ref RC443) which goes together very nicely and saves the faff of altering the ends. No connection etc... As I read it (could be wrong) substitute the slotted link Morton brake gear for DC and you would get the slightly earlier ie 1937 built P17. Ken...
  11. In Russell's Pictorial Record of GW Coaches part II there are 3 pictures of the P19 Python: 580 in the official picture (as built?) has two full length strips on the pictured side, but these are not visible on the photo of it in 1949. Note that this was the specially strengthened one off for carrying elephants. The third picture is of 569, same livery as the 1949 shot of 580, again no visible waterstrips. Raymond Walley has a note on his build and review of the Scorpio Python A : "The pictures in Russell's book shew one vehicle with rain strips on the roof as well but that is the vehicle that was specially strengthened for carrying elephants, the remainder had neither strips nor ventilators on the roof.".. Hope that helps...
  12. Blacksmith and ABS both used to do the oval head square shank buffers in 4mm, but not having been to any of the exhibitions they attend recently I can't confirm if they still do.
