  1. John, Delved into the dustbin and rescued some parts . PM me with your address and I will send what I have . Pete
  2. What do you suggest I do ? Save it all and let it pile up in a corner. No thanks. I can't be bothered to deal with people so in the bin they go. 2 Wrenn 2-6-4t and a Nu cast 3f are now heading for the council tip. As I said earlier the £70 refund doesn't bother me it is the fact that he was a cheating git, but there again the world is full of them. Pete
  3. John, I bought it new and it basically remained in the box ,the accessories were still untouched and sellotaped to the polystyrene protective box. I never noticed the bodged antenna . If I had bodged it, I would have cleared up the residual glue and declared the fact in the description. Every item that i sold that weekend I gave feedback for as soon as they were posted , that's how sure I was that the items were as described. I have learnt my lesson, I have now started to throw items in the bin rather than sell them on e bay. 3 wills crabs went in the bin yesterday. Pete
  4. I was well and truly scammed 2 weeks ago. I had a 1/32 diecast Mosquito that I purchased new many years ago. I never had it on display hence it remained in the box. I decided to sell it and it sold for £100 + £10 postage. Having received the model he told me that on inspection the antenna had been bodged and there were traces of residual glue on the fuselage and that he would send it back . I offered to refund part or all of the full price. He offered £30 + postage as he would use it for spares. I didn't want to get into messy dealings so I agreed and refunded him £70. However I was suspicious , as why would this supposed perfectionist want one for spares so I bookmarked diecast mosquito . Sure enough within a week he had sold it for BIN £139 + £15 postage. The money doesn't bother me but it's the fact that people can lie and cheat and couldn't care less . I e mailed him to congratulate him on his dishonesty, needless to say he has not responded. Pete
  5. Agree with you there John. I only differ in that I thank and notify them that the item is on it's way in the same e mail. Pete
  6. Because if they are unhappy they will either contact the seller or notify E bay. Pete
  7. Not sure I agree there John. The buyer has to my way of thinking fulfilled their part of the contract by bidding, purchasing the item and paying the postage. The seller has fulfilled their part of the contract when said item has been delivered and the buyer is happy with the description. Therefore my thoughts are that the seller should give feedback first. In addition as I have just sold a number of items , if the seller gives feedback first then it gives an indication that the seller is confident that the buyer will be happy with their purchase and is a genuine seller Also if you give feedback first , the seller may not give return feed back as has happened to me on a fair number of sales. Pete
  8. I know how you feel Gordon. Yesterday my wife and I spent at least 6-7 hrs yesterday packing ,printing and labelling 30 packages , all bar 2 were "oo" models. Also have the added complication that 1 loco a K's Kirtley 0-6-0 has to be posted to Italy. Apparently the Italian state railway ran them into the 1920s. E bay during the month of May have a special deal with Hermes. All I had to do was pack, weigh it, enter the details and print the label ,sellotape to the parcel and wait for Hermes to collect from home this morning. Delivered within 2-3 days. The highest postage was just under £10 for an item priced at £100 insured and to be signed for. I have come to the same conclusion as yourself, too many to shift in one go and only the 3rd occasion I have sold on e bay
  9. Pretty sure we had our 1st swallow over the house and garden today. Pete
  10. Jubblies have been mentioned but I remember something very similar in shape but it was called firewater and dark red in colour. I don't think anyone has mentioned the trolley, the basic get around used when you were 9 - 12yrs old. My 1st bicycle at 11 yrs old for passing the 11 plus. Life seemed simpler and a lot slower back then. People conversed face to face instead of using that techno wonder , the mobile phone. Society is now far more selfish, ill disciplined (witness the ignoring of the lock down ), no morals or principles, no respect, (witness the spitting by idiots ), greedy. No doubt some one will have to disagree and no I am not looking through rose tinted glasses. Pete
  11. At a guess Patricroft, Heaton Mersey , Belle vue, Gorton and maybe Stockport Edgeley ? Pete
  12. Gordon, Newton Heath shed c&w football team went on to eventually become Manchester United. pete
  13. Morning Tony, I wish now that I hadn't mentioned it. I was trying to say that the top of the combination lever should be positioned within the valve stem cover. I didn't realise at the time that it was Bachmann valve gear . Regards Pete
  14. Tony, I just wanted to highlight that maybe something is amiss with the combination lever on 61812 on the R/H side. No criticism intended . Pete
  15. I'll have a go too . Top photo The far left home board is cleared for the goods , 2nd from left is cleared for the main and the train is right away for brum. 3rd is for the Sutton branch and Walsall. 2nd photo. The 4f is on the main and heading for Whitacre, the distant under the home would have been cleared instead if it was taking the Kingsbury new line. The next 2 home boards are for the goods and would either take you to Whitacre (higher( or Kingsbury new line (lower). The last 2 home boards far right take you to Whitacre (lower) or Kingsbury new line (higher). Is this a relief road that the loco is stood on ? Pete
  16. Macular degeneration ? Injection in the eye is bad enough psychologically, but for me it's the 5-6 hrs after until the Iodine wears off. Ironically I've had one this morning. I'll never get used to them but you don't have a choice. Apologies for off topic Gilbert. Pete
  17. If you are not happy with the rivetted cab, Comet supply a Stanier cab, although it is adding to the cost of course. Pete
  18. I seem to recollect in the training school we used to discuss whether the 50ft rule was between the vehicles or 50ft either side of the member of staff i.e. 100 ft between the vehicles. Pete
  19. Peter, I've been a Honda fanatic since I was 15. Apologies Gordon for Off Topic. Pete
  20. Gordon, Funny how we see things differently. When I was approx 6yrs old I had a railway book with an A4 on the front cover and thought it was the ugliest loco I had seen. Of course I didn't know at the time that it was an A4 but 60yrs later I still think they are ugly. Pete
  21. Gordon, The Sun Inn, Eastwood, Nottinghamshire, was the birthplace of the Midland Counties' Railway in 1832 and progressed to become the Midland Railway. Pete
  22. Northern try to operate to Nottingham with an hourly service. Pete
  23. The water pressure switch (4-8 psi) actually worked on water pressure not level, on the Eastern region we called it . Low water level was indicated by a bright blue fault light on the drivers desk with no loss of power. With 47s liking to rock and roll the Mowbrey float switch in the header tank would bob up and down and the fault light would keep brightening and then dimming on the desk. Adjacent to were ROPS (run oil pressure switch) and SOPS (start oil pressure switch). Yes I have spragged a pressure switch (MAPS main air pressure switch) ) but as I have never smoked I broke a tooth off of a comb and we cleared the main line. Pete
  24. Jamie/Tim On another thread it has been highlighted that it has a name of pledge "revive it". Available from Amazon at £14.89p for 27 fl oz. Pete
  25. There is a10page write up in the o gauge gazette for November 2014 which may help. Pete
