  1. The wife isn't too happy as the present doors are inset with glass panels that let a lot of light into the hallway. She certainly will not accept glass doors with wire mesh through the glass. Pete
  2. Yes I know he has my best interests at heart, he is quite a decent chap really. It's just that the chicken mesh had to cover an area 36ft x 15ft, took me about a week to complete. Pete
  3. Rob, I take it from the above that you haven't got to lay 25mm chicken mesh between the new joists to support the 100 mm insulation ? I have had a new higher roof built with 4 dormer windows fitted. The building regs guy has deemed that it is now a habitable room ( I guess it was the windows that gave it away) and has insisted that I use the chicken mesh, it is a real pain in the backside to fit. I also have got to fit 11 fire doors throughout the house and 3 smoke alarms on the 3 levels. All this money and effort for a model railway, I must be mad but as you say it all adds to the house when it comes to moving on. Pete
  4. Came back from a safari in Kenya just over a week ago , so here a few of the local wildlife. The Elephant, Gerenuk 1st Lion and 2nd Leopard are in Samburu. The Cheetah, 2nd Lion and 1st Leopard are in the Masai Mare.
  5. Apologies I thought that you were referring to the keyhole not the actual filler cap. Pete
  6. Without looking it up, I seem to recollect that it is the reverse. 7250-7309 had the filler on the tank top but then the remainder were fitted with the keyhole filler. Pete
  7. Yes it has, the small vertical line beneath and to the right of the emblem is the filler. If you click on the photo and zoom in you can see it better. Pete
  8. Richie Have a look on the C&L website in the EM section at ref EM Track Base - C&L (4TBEM) . 2 metres of track base for £12, but that does not include the rail, which you have to purchase and thread on yourself. Pete
  9. You also need to replace the tall chimney with a short chimney. Pete
  10. There was a young girl from little Morton Who had a long tit and a short un To make up for the loss she had a like a hoss And a fart like a 500 Norton. Pete
  11. That makes it a non starter straightaway. Any sensible plan in this country is doomed to failure. Pete
  12. Also a picture of 45704 taken in 64 with both stripe and Fowler tender on the Rail-Online website.
  13. Paul, Pm me your e mail address and I will sort it out tonight. Pete
  14. Paul, I think I have the instructions for the quintet , would that be of any help? Pete Found the instructions and they apply to both quad and quint
  15. Just to add that there is a live webcam of the young Ospreys at the Loch of Lowes but you will have to be quick as they are very close to flying for the first time. Pete
  16. I was in Scotland last week end and called in at The Loch of Lowes to see the Ospreys and other wildlife . Of course with Perth just down the road I spent all day Saturday at the exhibition and a very fine show it was too. Can the experts out there confirm that in photo 2 the birds are Siskins please ? Apologies over the last photo of the Ospreys but they are obviously a fair way away. I was using a 550 zoom to get even that close. Regards Pete
  17. By sheer coincidence I am staying in Kenmore for 3 nights this weekend, so plan to come down by train to the show and SWMBO can go shopping. Pete
  18. Evening Iain, Have you replaced the tall chimney with a shorter one ? Pete
  19. If memory serves me. Route knowledge requirements for a driver were different to those of a guard, in that it stated on the relevant route card that a guard had to be familiar with the route whereas a driver had to be fully conversant with the route. Pete
  20. Russ, I appear to have accrued 7 "likes" which I assume should be for you and your pic, not the fact that I managed to rotate it the right way up. Sorry. Pete
  21. Visited 4 national parks in India in February with the sole intent of seeking and successfully finding ;- A total of 5 tigers and 1 leopard Sheer beauty Pete
  22. Ronnie , Just to add the following . According to Essery/Jenkinsin "Illustrated history of LMS Locos" vol 5. 13 were converted to LFB in the early days as follows 5002/20/2-3/6-7/40/7/54/7-8/97/142. Another 6 (45082/108/9/51/69/77) and more were converted later. I think where the confusion may lay is that 57 of the domeless were converted to domed and therefore would appear to resemble a LFB. However as you rightly say a SFB has 5 washout plugs on the R/H side and a LFB has 6. Pete
