  1. Don't bring your wellies either: We've gone to the dogs! CATFORD
  2. There should be an announcement, to announce the announcement. However, should the announcement precede the announcement, there might be an early announcement. There might be a late announcement, but due to a coffee break, it might be a latte announcement. Yours faithfully, Anne Ounce.
  3. I was going to finally buy a Dean Goods. I'd even set aside money just for this sort of thing. Thankfully, my wallet is still intact. Is there a way whereby one can buy the twin-flywheel model? Must be a bit disappointing. The reviews are released showing smooth action, and then dropping in a mechanism which is not that with which we were led to believe. Probably painted maroon as well..... Cheers, Ian.
  4. Shrewd marketing plan by Hornby, especially with the PLA Peckett No74. You'll need another 73 to make up the set..... Cheers, Fred Needle-Street.
  5. I saw a bobby on the beat the other day... Dixon of Dock Green on I-Player....
  6. Nice one Keith, but not quite right. The tender coal space has been removed, and seats added. After all... "My dad drove the Flying Scotsman". The other mod is to put a 'Nellie' in the tender. This should allow Mallard to finally break the 126mph, at long last. A 6-wheel Peckett is still on the radar. It will probably be the older classes, to utilise a common tooling base. However, only about 11 hours to go now. Wibble Wibble!
  7. That looks nice, but is it the long-awaited Peckett? From here, I'm looking at the headstock, with a set of bolts/rivets set behind. Also, the buffing stock is set higher, which clues us onto smaller wheels. Cheers, Ian.
  8. Depending on the curvature, I'd respectfully suggest C. Purely for sighting purposes, it might well end up on the other side of the running lines. That said, I'm only looking a 3 photographs. Even better with the signal bracketed out over the main line, and stayed back past the 'cess. Cheers, Ian.
  9. A bit close, but.... WHITECHAPEL
  10. I would very much like a Brighton K3 mogul. I'm just wondering how far north they worked. Reading-Oxford, perchance? Cheers, Ian.
  11. Quite right. But, tt will have to be very, very good indeed to make the extra choice. If however, Bachmann decide to make something different, like an 'Aberdare', then I'm sure that Bachmann will make a good job of it. Perhaps we've come to the end. No more Western locomotive models? Cheers, Ian.
  12. Sad to say, I think Bachmann have missed this one. The conversion between Mainline & Lima turns out a pretty good model. Add to that, High Level do a nice little chassis for the 94xx. Either way, they'll be somewhat less than the £120-odd that we can realistically expect to see when the model sees the light of day. I did a conversion model some years back. It 'wasn't bad' but since then, other posters on here have made much better examples of it. I've got a couple to do, when I can find a 'Roundtoit' It's not to say that Bachmann (or others) shouldn't make it. It's just that prevarication doesn't always help. One locomotive, or ten wagons? Hmmmm. Cheers, Ian.
  13. Instant gratification.... Pie, chips and curry sauce. Hmmm. Lid off pie. use chips as edible scoops for innards. Pour curry sauce in, and consume.
  14. What with Lord of The Isles, it could be Hornby's first foray into broad gauge. Or, with our cousins over the water, perhaps 5'3" track. Or, a nice bit of 009. Cheers, Ian.
  15. 29 might be the percentage increase..... Fred Needle-Street.
  16. 29? That'll be the sectioned Merchant navy at York!
  17. Seeing as it's Star Wars Day* Must be Triang Battlespace! * May the fourth be with you...
  18. My tip for the top is this..... Due to the 'unexpected demand' created by a pigeon landing on the tender of the locomotive, Hornby have created a unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to re-live those halcyon days of steam! For the unbelievable price of £4472, the lucky collector will receive:- Flying Scotsman locomotive. Flying Scotsman Mug. Flying Scotsman knife, fork & spoon. Flying Scotsman plate & eggcup. Flying Scotsman watch Flying Scotsman lighter. Flying Scotsman Underpants. Flying Scotsman quilt cover. The first customers to take up this exclusive offer will receive a signed photograph of the pushbike used by Fred Squint, the timekeeper at Doncaster Works, who coined the phrase "My dad drove the Flying Scotsman". Order today!
  19. Not far from Wimbledon, is the famous school, Kings Wimbledon So, without ado, into town again for KINGS CROSS
  20. Westwood Cross is a bustling area of retail. The rates on this place is seriously staggering. To set up a factory unit over there will/would require some serious financial input.
  21. From New Cross Gate, we travel into the deepest south. BEXLEYHEATH.
  22. You have got to be putting me on!
  23. I don't know why they brought them in. Just the same as decimal currency. Why didn't they wait until all of the old people have died? Fred Needle-Street.
  24. Slightly off-topic, however.... Significant advances have been made in manufacturing techniques over the years, to the point of making frames for full-size locomotives vastly easier, and more important, more accurate and cheaper. I'm currently setting out a business plan for a full-size locomotive replica, and my previous perceptions about prices & costs are somewhat altered from work we've done some 20 years ago. Hindsight is a wonderful thing..... Cheers, Ian.
