  1. There's always nuts on our bird feeder. Sometimes I shoo them away, and the birds can get at the breadcrumbs..... We've got a colony of sparrows here, spread over a couple of houses. I don't think we get too much trouble with cats, as our dogs would prefer 'feline' to Chum, or whatever Mrs. S is feeding them at the moment. Our large holly has reached to top windows, so I now get an audience when I'm in the rear rooms.
  2. Lets go to Yarcombe, just off the A303, near Chard.
  3. Well, she's well seasoned! One of my older customers has just got a new Staff pup, so today (Saturday) will be partly spent looking at solar panels, and playing with a 'new friend'... I trust & hope you all have a good weekend. Ian
  4. Using the last 3 letters of Dunbar, takes us to Barwell, Leicestershire. Or, just using the last one, we can go to Rogerstone, just outside Newport, South Wales.
  5. Ears pierced, while you wait....
  6. The last 2 letters from Enderby can lead us to Byfleet, Essex. Or, we can go to Yarnton, just outside Oxford.
  7. Using the last two letters from Ranworth can take us to Thundersley, (Essex). Or, we can go to Hopton, home of the incline
  8. Using the last 2 letters from Muff, we can go to Fforestfach, near Swansea.
  9. Yafford, which is on the 'Back of the Wight'....
  10. Yes- Fragile. (via Youtube). Rush-La Villa Strangiato (just for the guitar work alone, worth every second). Portishead- Different tracks. Genesis- The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway (whole Album) Stevie Ray Vaughan. Superb guitar work, sadly missed. Genesis again- Suppers Ready (live). Finally.... Rory Gallagher- Brute Force & Ignorance... Turn up the volume! Ian
  11. Sennybridge. No, Hang on, I think we've been there already... Let's try St. Fagans. Just outside Cardiff. Home of the Welsh Museum of Life ( I think that's right!)
  12. Llantrisant (the Church of the Three Saints) Known sometimes as the "Hole with the (Royal) Mint", by the locals, but it's actually not a bad place. Ian
  13. Can't speak too much about Photo voltaic panels, as its not my absolute area of expertise. However, the thermal panels can, & will reach 130'C. The stagnation temperature for a good thermal panel is around 200'C. Yes, that is Celcius, not Farenheit. Most systems are designed to work around the lower end, at about 60'C. We mostly turn our gas off about March, until October. Ian
  14. Our local farmer has bred some 3-legged chickens, as both He, his Wife, and Son all like a leg of chicken.... "What do they taste like?" I enquired. "Don't know", replied the farmer. " The little bu**ers run so fast, I can't catch 'em...."
  15. Depends on what type of solar system you would like, Tony. If its PV (electric), then you will have some switching fuses, and an inverter, which is around the size of a microwave oven. Solar thermal (the hot water variety) has an insulated set of pipes, and a pump station, which is about half size of the typical microwave. That's normally what you will get in a loft. Regards, Ian. PS. Due south is best for solar (either variety) with a roof angle from 25 to 45 degrees.
  16. Morning Folks, Rain here I'm afraid (IoW), but strangely, visibility very good, about 6+ miles. If the rain stops (Forecast for 10am) I'm onto the roof, to finish off my guttering. Might get brave, and service my solar system as well. Regards, Ian
  17. Ok, that's fine. Back to Glyncorrwg.
  18. Oooh.... Now, is that 'T', from East. or 'N', from London? Either way, I'll offer Treforest (or Trefforest), Glamorgan, or Newbridge, which is a couple of valleys over.
  19. I did originally put a personal yardstick of 60 No1's (10 ton opens) as a fair representative load. Pleased to report that we managed 54 + brake, with real ease. General concencus amongst fellow club members was that 60+ would not present a problem. I should add that the wagons used were generally straight out of the box (Dapol/Bachmann, etc). In addition, I should add that I have up-rated the loco weight to 300 grammes. Regards, Ian
