  1. And if anyone needs more Market Deeping action, we should have the latest update on their TT:120 layout in this Friday's World of Railways newsletter.
  2. Apart from Wills - http://www.sefinecast.co.uk/Flushglaze Windows/Flushglaze Windows Page 1.htm and Shawplan - https://www.shawplan.com/extreme_Loco_Laserglaze_4mm.html
  3. They did - we saw an O gauge layout in the first segment, and an N gauge in the second.
  4. That's probably because it's a way off being finished. The cliffs are mostly white plaster that doesn't show very well on camera. I'm editing an update on that layout today, so you can have a proper look by the end of the week.
  5. If the NEC is too scary, you could go to Ally Pally, and see Peter do the same thing, or perhaps look at the kids walking around with a freshly built Dapol building they assembled in the Young MRC area. Both groups were pleased as punch with their models, and keen to show them off to anyone who looked interested. And you couldn't find a Dapol kit for sale in the hall, as they wanted to repeat the experience.
  6. Forget Covid and TV shows - it peaked in 1963. Or possibly in the 1990s for finescale modellers. Or pretty much any date you care to pick. You just have to define "peak".
  7. With my Garden Rail hat on, we regularly feature articles on budget builds where even locos are created for less than the price of a OO coach. Cheap modelling is out there if you want it...
  8. So, according to the Bank of England inflation calculator, £25 less than your Westwood £24.50 set would be if it was still available. Less track and bits admittedly, although more, and better buildings plus scenic materials. And with a bit of work, you can make a respectable railway out of it. Oh, and there will be more music related items in the future, so you might yet get your Taylor Swift train set.
  9. Family fun project? https://www.monkbarmodelshop.co.uk/model-railways-c5/oo-model-railways-c6/train-set-oo-c7/r1265-hornby-family-fun-pro-p21364 Coca-Cola is in it's last year. Presumably, they should just pay the licence fee and not make anything to get the money back, because you disapprove?
  10. There you go then, a young person. And there are plenty more on social media. Sorry if that sinks your argument (I know it won't, we could find coach loads of youngsters and that wouldn't either.). As for price (groan), am I the only person who goes to things other than toy train shows? Entrance fees are similar, and the petrol costs the same. Shows are good value for money. A days entertainment for less than the price of 90 minutes of football, or one anc a bit trips to the cinema.
  11. Just pressing the "Don't belive everything on TV button."
  12. Please. Issues with the high street aren't really relevant in the case of a business based away from said high-street, and with a prominent online presence.
  13. And in the Corgi range, the best train today... https://uk.corgi.co.uk/products/wallace-and-gromit-wrong-trousers-train-set-chase-bundlec09
  14. And most exciting, for me anyway, a new Shannon lifeboat kit!
  15. OK, I give up. I can't firefight all over the forum, so this thread can be locked for a few days. Let's wait and see what Hattons decide to do.
  16. And you also aren't sat in the Hattons boardroom deciding how the process is going to play out. There is likely a whole lot of stuff none of us know about. Please stop playing armchair businessman and let things clear up.
  17. Please do. The rest of the forum is enough of a bin fire. Should you want handbags at dawn, there is a flat roof pub near here with an accommodating car park for just such events.
  18. Not for the 3 to 8-year-old market Playtrains, and its successor is aimed at.
  19. This was a surprise - but we are told a new product aimed at this market is in development. With Martyn's experience at Tomy, this sounds interesting.
  20. We used the images supplied in the official presentation. It seems they have now changed the loco to the standard 0-4-0 in different colours. On the plus side, I bought a special set of Romford wheels and axles to re-wheel the Margate phone number loco, so these won't be wasted after all.
  21. And grumpy mods, also looking after the Hornby announcements are less accomodating to those who choose to ignore the instructions.
  22. If you are expecting pages full of stuff not announced here, you will be disappointed.
  23. Locomotion isn't just a 3D print either - there are plenty of components already in tooling. The clear plastic box at the top is a prototype for the carrying cradle to protect those vulnerable waggly bits in storage/transit.
  24. Digging through some old photos last night, I found this:
  25. I can find you a letter to the model railway press making those exact same arguments from 1946. OK they didn't have austerity in the same way as we do, but they were in the middle of rationing and there was the little matter of a recent war... Price rises have been done to death, unless you have a desire to read endless pages saying they are too high and hurling all sorts of abuse at manufacturers and retailers. This is why I specifically asked NOT to go down that road on this thread. Spot on. This is a bad piece of news. No need to wish to make it worse for anyone's "entertainment".
