Hi Rod, I hope you are well ? I must get hold of the Chaps for a visit to West Kirby Ffestiniog 😃
Everything is plausible Rod, and if it ticks your boxes, go for it, essentially you will have 2 x lovely layouts in one, itches all nicely scratched 😊
Best regards

Well... I be ..... wotsit... Craig !
Rails just announced Heljan are to release Class 122 bubble cars in O !
https://railsofsheffield.com/products/Heljan-1230-class-122-br-blue-full-yellow-ends-single-car-dmu
With my ( oh so) little knowledge of BR stuff...If I were to be tempted... for say a route learner.. in mid 1980's ..
Which would be the appropriate livery for North of border?
Clearly I need to do some research... but this would be 'something different' for a visit to Alston Sidings.
Advice appreciated.... let the pondering begin.......
Steve

Hi Caz, Craig here it was good to see the layout on Saturday, it’s a lovely project and is looking good with a good balance of simplified track plan and great scenery, this also has Rhys musing about something for himself.
Now following with interest

Yeah a nice route learner or Class 131 parcels, of which both are ex class 122 passenger bubble cars, and both ran North of the boarder

Hello Nick, I am really liking your layout project, I had a plan many moons ago based on Bourne End in 4mm that never really came to fruition. I do love the simplicity of the track layout, and the idea of creating scenic atmosphere with the less is more approach.
but I have something mulling again, this time in 7mm utilising the Dapol O gauge 121’s, of which I have 1 or 2 of 🫣 or may be a few more than that !!
I am following with interest

@37114 Rob, with regards to your Dapol 121, did you get oval buffers for it ? If you did, which manufacturer did you get them from ?
thanks in advance

Dapol 121 and 122 dmus in O gauge
in Dapol
Posted · Edited by muddys-blues
Hello, I probably like many others have just received notification from Rails that the new rerun of Dapol O gauge bubbles have landed, one or two caught my eye for my chosen modelling eras.
for those interested in these units, the blue grey class 122 unit M55005 looks interesting, are they really going to model it when it ran with class 121 exhausts ? looks promising when zooming in on the Dapol stock list picture.
from Railcar.co.uk copyright Sturt Mackay collection
Dapol website
In the product description Dapol have noted improved drivetrain running, so let’s see what they have come up with, personally I just remove one of the motors.
I have it planned to do this unit when it moved to LA and ended up with black windscreen surrounds as P105
Happy modelling
Craig
