Hi Guys, I just wanted to share our good news after everyone here has been so kind and supportive.
Lez finished work officially last week on Nov 3rd. On Friday she had an interview with another local auction house and immediately was offered the job there and then! Full time and she started yesterday.
Cheers, Ade.
Hi Ade, the layout is coming on really well, great news about Lez's job, are you going to celebrate by purchasing more kits ?
Best regards
Craig.

Just had a look through catalogue of the kits. Must say they do look good, but my goodness what a price!
Quality does cost ..... but it looks good.
Or have a bash yourself, this hobby has never been so well supported these days, the range of kits or materials seems almost endless.
Best regards
Craig.

It’s a shame that Simon’s excellent layout thread pages, are now being clogged up by discussions about the transmission from the MIOG live event !!
Stay safe

Having had a biopsy on a lower leg lesion this morning I was told to sit down as much as possible today, so I pulled my adjustable stool, rescued from my previous employers following an office move, to the edge of the layout and started painting sleepers and rail sides that had either been missed after running out of spray paint or had become revealed once track had been curved following spraying. Shiny rails show up in photos so I took a couple which I thought I would put up here, see first photo on page 25.
The sunshine effect on the rails in the second photo is from a lamp which assisted with lighting up the sides of the rails.
Hello Jonathan, hope all goes well for the results ?
Best regards
Craig.

Here we go ..... bragging about inches now !!! your 10" looks mighty impressive, makes me feel like my 8" one look inadequate !!!

Skytrex do some, GWR x 2 lengths, and SR x 2 lengths, both types are cast in white metal, with Leg supports, they clean up into decent castings.
Or as mentioned before, easy enough to scratch build, from plasticard and plastistruct, or wood.

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with Craig, Blue Period still I assume.
Thanks Andy, I keep looking in on your project and many other fine layouts builds as well, to keep the juices flowing.
Yes it will be the Blue period, with a splash of lingering green, and early 70’s decay.
Best regards

A parcels bay would be a good addition Rod, but the pictures you are drooling over, seem to be heading towards Berkshire .
May be a new layout project is in order ?
The mixed parcels lash up is great Rod

Hello, I am still around, life has got in the way !!
We moved into a new house at the end of July, planning has been submitted for a purpose built extension, which will be Mancave territory, space will be some where in region of 24 ‘ x 18’.
Though I still hanker to have a garden section as well
All modelling items, are safely in storage, pending a suitable temporary modelling space, once some major decorating is done, to keep SWMBO happy !!
Please don’t mention Bury FC, that is a very sore subject :-(
Best regards

Hi all.
For the moment, back to parcels from 503s!! Some time ago I mentioned a parcels formation I'd seen that I rather fancied. Well, it's here!! Here's the pic that inspired it:
And after some good work from my pal Dave, here's what the model looks like in the platform at WKT:
And from a slightly different angle:
It's made up of a Class 128, a wired- and piped-through GUV and a Class 116 DMS (reclassified as 130), with the seats removed - but not the partitions. Note the branding on the GUV: this was one of a pair of GUVs that was marshalled between 2 DMU power cars to form a Railair Express Parcels service from Bristol (if I remember correctly) to Heathrow Airport. When the service finished the GUVs were used to make up units like my model. The branding on the GUV has had the "Air" bit removed - hence the larger than normal gap between "Rail" and "Express". Note also the larger than normal (for a DMU) arrows on the side of the 130.
On the model, only the 128 is powered - it makes enough noise for 2!! Here are a couple more pics - one from above showing the unit side on:
Apologies for it being a bit fuzzy (mobile phone camera!). And then from the 128 end;
Being very technical the 128 should have corridor connections and reporting number boxes as here:
but unfortunately that isn't the one I bought before I decided on this formation so this one it will have to be!! That constitutes a new parcels flow from the South West to Moreton - exactly what the traffic is is a trade secret for now (in other words, I've not made up the story yet!!).
I'm still rather pleased with it, though!! I'll do a video of it soon - so watch this space!!
More soon.
Rod
Lovely jubbly Mr M. a lovely unusual subject, very well executed , hope you are keeping safe and well ?

There are at least 4 in my collection, all at Plympton which are sheeted directly over the load. Weren't clayhoods for Ball clay?
As to O13 - they had Churchward brake rigging so rather different, but I thought we had already looked at them. Or is that in a parallel universe as this has been discussed on another forum at the same time.
Paul
Thanks Paul, your site is invaluable to many of us modellers, i'll be purchasing a few prints to aid the building of some of the UCV's as flat hoods "1970 modeller", quick question regarding the type of brake rigging on the 1/051's what make was fitted to them ?
Thanks in advance
Craig.

Thanks Gents, it seems to be getting nearer regarding info, does anyone on the main differences between the original 013 and the later built 1/051 ?
I know the wheels are different, spokes on the 013, and three holes disc on the later 1/051 for starters
thanks in advance

They were different wagons. The ones with the flat sheets were 5-plank opens, coming from all the Big 4 companies and BR. They didn't have sheet rails, so you had to be careful when unsheeting if you didn't want to be drenched. The wagons were TOPS-coded 'OWV'.
The UCV were purpose-built end-tipping wagons, on a shorter underframe.
Where the UCV’s flat hoods originally ?

Good evening, here is an enquiry as what seems to be the holy grail for 7mm modellers, the elusive China Clay wagon, I am looking to possibly scratch build or kit bash a rake of these in the future, so I am sourcing information in advance.
Has anybody built any of these from scratch off drawings etc ? or has anybody kit bashed any Slaters, or Parkside kits to make up a reasonable imitation ?
Your input or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Craig

Apology to Graham for going off topic
Hello Phil, whoo a few more coming out of the woodwork , what standard gauge resin kits are you producing ?
Graham, apologies for this going off topic, but it's good to unearth a few more Gwynedd residents.
Best regards
