  1. Hi, Steve - which clayhoods? Finding them in 7mm has been my white whale...
  2. I'll have a look next time I'm out there (it may actually be today or Sunday), but if I remember correctly they go to a business not far around the bend in Rochelle.
  3. Interesting discussion. Freelancing is still rather common here in the States, I'm guilty of it myself.
  4. An excellent layout, complete with scratchbuilt 153s. Chris Turnbull's Cromer: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/74024-cromer-modern-image-o-gauge/
  5. I have the same question - could someone please ask at Bristol? I'm an ocean away and cannot attend.
  6. Global 3 is massive - at night you can see the lights for miles.

Happy, happy - my Chetter Zimo decoder with stay-alive and twin speakers arrived today. I also have a rolling road on the way, so hopefully I can find the time this weekend to do the install so I can have a bit of a play when the rollers get here.
  8. Thank you! I usually research a bit before throwing down plastic, but I was enamored by the photos and jumped without first looking. I should be safe for both of my eras.
  9. I only wish they were as responsive to emailed questions about these points - 30 days and counting...
  10. I finally succumbed to temptation and ordered three vans from Hattons. Sigh. Now, what's this about Slaters offering lost wax Instanter links? Also, can anyone comment on the appropriate years the bauxite XP vans would have been seen in service? An infant's question, I know.
  11. Yep, that's the kind of weather we're having today!
  12. I don't know about that - I would much rather watch a first-class crew flatswitching than a through train blowing through the station!
  13. Thank you, Andy! I'm likely to do it with 5' boards which I think will fit OK in my CR-V. I do like the overall flow of how you laid it out!
  14. Thanks for that - I emailed them several weeks ago asking about the points, but haven't received a reply as of yet.
  15. Don't knock the Boy Scout methods. Petrol is still the best way of lighting a wet campfire, at least while the Scoutmaster's back is turned!
  16. I like this, Andy - I've been idly doodling Inglenook variants for a few weeks now, but I like this better than anything I've come up with. Since you've moved on, any objections if I steal this?
  17. Thanks for that, Pete - we had a three car demonstrator set here in Chicago for a short while back in the 90s, they really caught my eye at the time. And I certainly see the appeal of Spanish railways! I'm really enjoying what you're doing with this project.
  18. Pete, how does your Electrotren 594 run? I've seen the Heljan IC3 version before, but it's a bit of a coffee grinder. I've always had a thing for these DMUs...
  19. I had several back-and-forth emails with them before the holidays, but haven't tried in the last few weeks.

Isn't that for flying the Royal Standard when One is aboard?
  21. Gonna have a heck of a hump in the track laying it over the roachclip like that, though.
  22. We do that here all the time with Shinohara and Walthers HO turnouts.
