  1. Heljan - there's information on the Tower Models site.
  2. That was a tremendous find - thank you!
  3. I've had my eye on Hayes as a prototype to model for a few years now - there is something very appealing about its simplicity.
  4. Apologies Bernard, I didn't see anything like that when I viewed the page.
  5. It was a link to a Tripod hosted site. I didn't see any malicious pop-ups, there were one or two commercial ones but nothing nasty. What was happening at the link? I certainly wouldn't have posted a malicious link. Andy, what did you see?
  6. I found a little more on her - she was bigger than she appeared in the original photo:
  7. I love this photo. Was this a coastal vessel of some sort? I can't imagine it would have been profitable to ship coal in such a small vessel unless it was heading into some kind of restricted space port.
  8. Nope, not going to happen. I think I may have one of these tucked away from back in the 70's. A very nice conversion!
  9. I'm very much enjoying Cross Street (as I did Ring Road). You father's is fantastic, too! Hard to believe that's on 6' x 2'9".
  10. Thank you! Not that it matters, but I agree - a better choice for exhibition.
  11. Andy - this is the spot you showed with the tall warehouse on the last page, correct? I like your idea of a small fueling point!
  12. I can think of four in particular: 1. Shell Island, which taught me that minimalism can be atmospheric; 2. Southerham, which introduced me to SR electrification; 3. Maybank to Radley Jct., which showcases the scenic strength of N scale; and 4. Charmouth, which electrified my latent interest in UK NG. Edit - sorry, I missed the three layout limit... but I stand by my choices.
  13. Have there been any other commerical kits of the GVT tram locos?
  14. The detail still holds up to today's standards? I have zero opportunity of seeing one before the postman shoves it through the slot. Thanks for the information!
  15. Oh, dear - I never considered doing Dennis, Sir Theodore or Glyn in SM32. Now I'll never get to sleep tonight!
  16. I've had an interest in the Glyn Valley Tramway ever since I found a small book about the company here in the States back in the mid 1980s. I was inspired by that book to purchase a Peco 4mm kit and GraFar chassis by mailorder which was a real feat back in those pre-Internet shopping days. I didn't have much luck with the kit due to some badly cast parts and a truly awful running chassis, and the locomotive is long gone. I'd still very much like to build one in 7mm scale. Is the Peco O-16.5 kit and chassis worth building? Are there any other alternatives for GVT locomotives in 7mm?
  17. It sounds like you're making a very practical adaptation of the prototype. I need to take a look around the area with Google Maps to get my bearings!
  18. I wasn't sure because of your mention about this being a mile up from the junction. This has great promise for exhibition!
  19. Lewis, have you given any thought as to signaling? Will a signal box be featured, or would it be off-scene?
  20. A very timely posting... our club exhibited at a local show today which has inspired me to look again at a simple N exhibition layout. I've been trying to come up with something that would fit on a single board, that would have a very simple sceniced portion (just two tracks running through the countryside, just like this) but with staging for numerous trains without handling. A suggestion - curved crossovers hidden past the red lines would allow you to "self restage" by running from one staging yard to the other. And I very much prefer your concept with the visible portion cropped at the red lines!
  21. Rich, I'm still interested in a set of the etches when they're available again. I missed them last time around. Thanks!
