This is what the 74 looked like earlier today After stripping the 33 chassis down it seems to fit quite well in the Silver fox shell To shorten the wheelbase to 37.5 foot extra holes were drilled in board To allow the bogie tower to fit, some filing was needed plus 3 pints down Fernandes brewery. Fits snug now with the ends of the plastic on the chassis filed down to clear the bufferbeams on the body Should work out good,
  2. Thanks everyone. You confirmed my suspicions regarding the Nightcap Bar Natalie; interesting stuff. S310S is finished at last. I swapped chassis' with Minerva which I'd wrongly given Gresley bogies and modded battery boxes etc. The next couple of projects will be a 73 and a 74, the latter being Silver Fox's rtr model. I plan to swap the Hornby powered chassis with one from a Heljan 33. I've not had any luck with finding the Transfesa markings. Transfesa in Spain did not reply to me. I read somewhere on RMweb that there is a grounded body on the Strathspey railway; I intend to investigate. Cheers Andy

  6. Like the others said; superb job on 47467 James. I remember that actual Crewe photograph in an old edition of "Traction" magazine and thought of it as soon as I saw the model before clocking the number and lo and behold....

  9. The photo's of the 375/3 look good with the new illuminated signalling; some shots are actually brilliant. It's a shame you can't mask out some of the light from the back of the tunnels. I'd like to see a shot of it disappearing into Shakey tunnel with the tail lamps on. If you change the address on the power car you need to re-address every vehicle at the same time on the program track to make all the lights work properly....not sure how it's all done on the ECoS....... I've been dying to see what you'll do with the chalk cliffs for ages........hopefully when I get round your drum next month you'll have something going on in this department....
  10. Ha ha. I does squeak; it's the trailers' pick-ups that seem a bit tight as they don't roll freely. I thought about a bit of electrolube on the back of the wheels but this may spread onto your track.

  12. The dutch one on ebay that started at 50 quid and finishes tomorrow is at 84 quid. It's interesting to gauge what the public think one's worth; I guess around the 100 mark is about right at the moment.
  13. Like what's been said, great pictures Peter. They take me back to childhood and teenagehood, especially the 20's on the Skeggies with different liveries and stock. I like the 40 too; looks like a hybrid Lima/Bachy chassis...certainly hits the spot over the standard Bachmann loco. My favourite picture is the 33/1 bagpipe though; superb weathering. I can tell you've a soft spot there; very realistic photo.

I've never actually taken the glazing out of a Bachy 20 so I don't know what they look like without; usually loco's look really thick and plasticky before lazerglaze or hand cut but those 20's kind of remind me of a brass kit in the window apperture department.......gotta be a good thing.
  15. I like what you've done with the 20's cab windows Lee; looks like you've taken the thickness of the plastic away giving it the appearance of sheet metal. Go on, how did you do it?
  16. Forgot to mention; the doors slightly ajar (where that term originate?) love 'em...'orrible 70/80's pre-fab lightweight doors...I want to click 'em shut for some reason.
  17. Superb scenes, nar...effing mint bar the glossy characters...or is it brylcream on the 80's hair? They'll be pre-painted won't they? Even with matt varnish I've never managed to get a perfect finish on a figure. One old book I have recommended talc mixed with paint but that might have been for cattle. The only mega matt paint I know is blackboard paint from the pound shop but once it's mixed with other colours..... Oh, poster paint will do it.
  18. The art-deco station building will be a lovely project; seeing it stripped down like that shows it's unlimited potential and I'm tempted myself. Stained facade and blistering window frames ...yeah.
  19. You could have put the holes in the plug socket Dave. I use a special square drill bit in the pin vice.

  21. Lovely photo Peter. That kind of service was common when I was a kid and we would get on such a train to Leeds as a failed unit was dragged back to Neville Hill. Rarely modelled, took me right back....was great to see the shabby old Goyle visible through the windows of the unit.
  22. It may be a rubbish idea but what about using a flat fridge magnet type of thing for securing the crossing.
  23. I'd never have guessed in a million years that was lego. I noticed the 4 bands but just thought that looks good concrete cast; how'd he do that?.
  24. It sure is!. The pointwork flows really well plus the ballasting really hides the sleeper spaceing differences; had to look again to tell the points weren't handbuilt.
