  1. I can assure you that any woman who can keep me in a steady supply of luxurious tabnabs to complement my thrice daily chai intake shall always have a special place in my heart! Of course the vibrant red hair, fine figure and pretty face are a consideration too! Tick all the boxes and I'll probably end up in a happy, if early(ier) grave!
  2. I spent about 10 seconds admiring the loco before I managed to focus on Julia. Good god, what's happened to me?
  3. If we're going to (rightly) mention the ever graceful Joanna Lumley, then we should also recognise the ever lovely Jenny Agutter and Jane Asher, both of whom were and indeed still are fine looking ladies. Regarding the latter, that scouse eejit must have been mad to throw it all away with her on the premise of a bit of slap and tickle with an equally 'out there' journalist - Miss Asher was and is, to me at least, a gift from heaven! (The boss was not in the vicinity when I posted this)
  4. I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the wonderful Susanna Reid of BBC Breakfast? She certainly brightens up my mornings!
  5. After being a member for almost 2 years I've only just found the "View New Content" option! Oh dear... Still, makes reading RMweb easier!

  6. Because like most of the public at large the program makers either aren't interested or can't be bothered in fully researching such things properly, or, more likely, the overwhelming majority of the public won't notice the difference and therefore don't care. "Is that an old train mum?" "Yeah Chantelle, it's a steam train, innit"

    Hornby B1

RM, I too gave into temptation and purchased a Hornby B1 at Glasgow on Friday, like yourself it was Sir Harold Mitchell, appropriately of 65A! A quality model and I must say it really looks the part, especially the tender - more so than the already very good Bachmann example.
  8. Good day at ModelRail Scotland. Came back with a Hornby B1 and 3x Gresley Suburbans. Better not tell her indoors......

  9. ModelRail Scotland beckons tomorrow - first time I've managed to be in the UK for it since 2004!

  10. Inverurie and Insch stations both have their fixed (i.e. large) weighing scales intact on the the platforms, with the mechanism houses in locked wooden enclosures - these are circa 130 years old, i.e. from GNSR days. Will grab a snap next time I'm down the station.
  11. On the subject of Warflats, the WW2 version is still kicking around and in use by the MOD. Now I can't recall if they're main line registered, but there are certainly a couple of dozen of them still in use and in pretty good condition in Marchwood - the last few I had occasion to look at a year or two ago still had 'LMS' worksplates affixed to them.

    Hornby B1

Mick, Just had a look at your photo of your B1 in the shed yard, but what caught my attention was the coaling plant behind it. Could I ask if it's a scratch build or from a kit, and do you have any more photos of it?
  13. email from Rails sayinh 'Merlin' is now available... Her indoors won't be happy!

    Hornby B1

Perhaps, but Vi-Trains seem to be making a fair go of it with their chassis upgrades for the Lima 37s, despite having their own model available.
  15. Thanks for those replies. I think I'd have preferred the Mk 1 in it's original form rather than a Pacerised version!
  16. What a curious looking beast. Anyone know the story behind it?
  17. Mechanical stoker? Not required in SA back in the day - you simply make the cab bigger and employ more Firemen. Labour was very very cheap then!
  18. It seems there's a few of them still in service in Rhodesia - oil being scarce/expensive due to their well publicised economic woes.
  19. Well done to Hattons for comissioning this model. I have no real place for it on my layout, but it looks to be quite a beast. I might just have some room in the shed for one..............
  20. Wasn't there a compendium (of sorts) of Railway related ghost stories some years ago - aptly named 'Railway Ghosts'?
  21. Another week of industry/company inspired corporate brainwashing beckons next week. What makes people think that lots of bull***t somehow equals safety?

  22. anyone know if the Scotrail sleepers have power points in the cabins?

  23. Just found out that Hornby are doing 'Coronach' in late crest DC form. Wonder if I can persuade the Paymaster General (SWMBO) as to the merits of purchase...

I am trying something similar for a tablet PC, her foo is strong... I shall win, I hope

  24. Well, if you're handy with a paintbrush, some plasticard and a hammer, you could take the next step and reproduce this: http://www.railbrit....e2.php?id=22687 http://farm4.static....47bc4b379_o.jpg Would make an interesting diorama......... All joking aside, I feel your pain, as I used to have a similar pet 'problem' on my layout, however that involved our pet cats thinking that chasing trains (literally) was a much cleaner, warmer and more enjoyable alternative to running around the undergrowth chasing after mice and the like. After several instances of supremely colourful language, frantic gesticulation and missiles sourced from track underlay, they soon got the message that to continue in the same vein would result in their life becoming particularly unpleasant. Her indoors thought I was being a bit harsh on the little darlings of course.
  25. Thought we were hammering along on an HST so got the GPS out - clocked it at 130mph for 10 minutes. Marvellous!
