Missed you by a year! Was down at the 2013 show with another club layout Menasha, had a good time with lots of positive comments about the layout, but down side the stealing of the spare wheel on the hire van was an unwelcome cost. If they put you up at the hotel next to the dog track, make sure your spare wheel is secure! I will be taking on a greater role in running the Wakefield Show from 2015 so if up north more than welcome to attend. Since the last software update of iPhone does not like sending photos but hopefully by the end of the day will have posted some images of the wagons on the layout at the club last night

Looks like the wind down last night not totally successful as up again at silly o clock. Decided to finish with a dusting of Vietnam earth weathering pigment and removed some weathering from the side supports. Frame dirt to underframe and who knows they might even get parked up in the scrap siding on Troutons at the club rooms tonight!

Will be basing wagon 4 on this image. http://ukrailwaypics.smugmug.com/UKRailRollingstock/M-Tops-codes/MBA-Monster-Box-wagons/i-p36RDW9/A The challenge being an overall layer of weathering to create an even finish but in reality made up of a mixture of colours
-
I managed not to be "observed" today so will be having a couple of glasses to go with a wind down session with wagon number 4. Need to hit the web to see if I can come up a suitable image
-
Day 2 of the visit from my fellow professionals and might not be the most positive of experiences so determined to find the time to complete this wagon. Frame dirt to bottom sill and underframe and dry brushed cockpit black onto bogie frames and once the brake lever is changed over will be done.
-
A two day visit by the idiots, sorry fellow professionals assisting us in our journey, at work so a little downtime as could be busy. Trying to get the idea of a more older patched wagon and whether the light or load seems to have more black and grime on the body. Started with powders of burnt rust and weathering marks smudged in with black smoke.
-
Great performance from the kids tonight in the latest production and a little relaxation time with this image as the inspiration of the 3rd model in the rake of 4 wagons. http://www.flickr.com/photos/dan700/8281809763/lightbox/ Will also be modifying the brake indicator lever as suggested
-
Good point and worth doing so will have a go with the remaining two wagons in the rake
-
trying to get some depth of layers this time so frame dirt with burnt rust and weathering marks powders used as the next layers Let it dry fully overnight and see what it looks like in the morning
-
Hard day at the office as they say topped of with a 4 hour meeting at the Hepworth Gallery, very productive but a long time to be creative! Time to unwind so just a little bit waethering before bed
-
Job stopped wrong red!
-
Next wagon up will have a partial paint patch up as well as lighter weathering
-
Second wagon up for the make over using image of the patched painted example Will have to keep the outside of the strengthening ribs clean as well as it seems to be a feature of weathering on the prototype image
-
The next wagon to be re weathered will use this image as a model http://ukrailwaypics.smugmug.com/UKRailRollingstock/M-Tops-codes/MBA-Monster-Box-wagons/i-F54W9sZ/A Looks like a partial patch repainted due to some graffitti being covered over

Dried overnight and I think just needs some selective rust chipping and a little more oil and grease stain and good to go. Will weather up the other three in the rake in a similar fashion
-
Will spend some time now on the rust chips on top bar little grease on springs and I think I will weather up the other in the rake in a similar fashion

Frame dirt, track dirt, earth and black washes added, bogies have to have black wash to be added
-
Thanks, a thin black wash and need to leave until the morning to see how it dries before deciding to do any more
-
Base colour to bogies, body has track dirt, frame dirt, oil and grease stains all combined with earth wash. Needs to completely dry before adding the earth mix
-
First base coat of frame dirt on bogies, frame dirt, oil, grease stain, track dirt and finally on earth wash to link all other colours together
