Very nice! Any plans for the four wheelers?
-
I wasn't sure about trying heat on a 20 year old bit of thin plastic! Rolling it might work, I will try tap hot water on the next build. How would I seal the pastels, bearing in mind the windows are part of the plastic side?
-
Tunnel? Or another bridge?
-
Beautiful. Post a finished picture for us?
-
Beautiful detail work. Made is always superior to bought.
-
Just been looking at the area around Bricklayers Arms shed for that very reason!
-
I thought there was some other stuff to go on it. The box was certainly old.
Haven't tried mucking the sides yet, good idea about the scratch pen.
-
Thanks rich, will PM tomorrow, if you have any 9ft American Ultima ones I will buy the whole etch.
-
According to my research some were supplied with plate bogies. Most survivors have 9ft Americans, I did look up the bogies before assembling them as when I realised that I would have to use parts from the Siphon.
Interesting point on livery, so the lining is wrong? Do you think any lake survived to the 40,s. Repainting the printed sides will be a pain as there is no surface detail. The finished rake will include some brass ones I will paint in the later unlined livery.
At least the bogies are only screwed in, easy to sort. From 4ft away most people would struggle to spot the difference IMHO, especially on a moving train. Wonder if the Ultima ones feature corrected livery?

Wow, that tower is really good. The walkway looks great as well!

Thank you Tim. Looking at the standards you have set yourself I take that as a big complement!

I would go with etch and solder and use clear glaze fluid. Good overhead views of Kingsbridge in britain from above site, Kris put a link in Railways of S Devon pages.

Welcome to blogs, will wach this develop, thanks for sharing it.

You will know it has left if you make each block section long enough to protect the longest train using it, as they usually did on the real railway. The company in my second link were making superb use of railcom and allowed for future development as well. I agree Lenz have failed to capitalise on their early lead in asymmetric dcc.
-
Like that 2251 too. Good to see more pannier progress. When is the first steaming planned?
-
I never knew there was a destination transfers sheet. What a good idea.
-
Have you looked at asymmetric DCC, this uses feedback from the chip for automation, an explanation here http://www.tonystrains.com/technews/lenz-asy-abc.htm
Also railcom,

The weathering is beautiful, I particularly like the insulated van, real depth of dirt and repairs. I can see one tiny error, the height of the chalk mark, particularly Peterborough, seems very high to me. It is my understanding these were usually put on in the yard prior to dispatching when the goods vehicles were marshalled, thus they tend to be lower on the bodies, where the staff can reach and were they are legible for shunting. Someone may know different, I do not pretend to be any sort of expert but you would be a tall railwayman to write the upper end of that mark!
Pointless pedantry aside, wonderful stuff. Perhaps a link back to your original wagon post?

That has amply illustrated why I will have to use dummy ground signals, I can barely see the finished items, let alone make them work!

Thanks Andy, any more progress on the station building? I think the Pendon train is 100 wagons long! At least with Dapols 28xx coming out we can do this in N now! Anyone fancy a 2mmfs Pendon? I reckon Kris and I could do a big chunk of the mainline from the bridge to Rattery Viaduct. The stock list is pretty eye watering and the fiddle yards needed are huge!
-
I should add they are also available in kit form. I agree, best mineral wagon by far in RTR.
-
Looks good from here, much better than commercial hedge.
-
Thanks, need to do another 49 to get close to the Pendon train...
-
Looks good from here!

Thoroughly enjoyed that Pete! I had forgotten about your fantastic little scale model of the layout being exhibited, I sent the link to my Dad, an architect now retired, whose approach to things is quite like yours, except like all good architects, he produces the plans and lets someone else do the building.....
