  1. Hello Fenchurch St Peter will have a few small editions since the pictures and DVD were taken at Peterborough when it appears at Stafford. Nothing too dramatic, well perhaps one of them is. Cheers George
  2. Hello Utter rubbish, it's only car-parks I have trouble with. Cheers George
  3. Hello How did he get into our layout thread? Who is he anyway? Any way got my copy of BRM today and am very pleased with the article . Everybody gets their name checks so hopefully no complaints! The DVD is probably watched with a friend for those of a nervous disposition. Any way thanks to Andy, Ben and every-one at BRM for featuring us. I tried to make the article a bit different from it's predecessor , I hope I succeeded. Actually Dave did make a contribution to Fenchurch; he loaned us the diesel brake tender. Cheers George
  4. Hello Paul It was Sunday when they did the filming Paul which is when you had your two hours of fame keeping the show on the road. Once again many thanks. Is that a giant chicken in the picture with me Andy, don't remember it at the time but then my memory is getting worse all the time. Can't remember where I was earlier John as I just mentioned just now. No message left on the answerphone. I am here now though. No I haven't got the magazine yet, obviously the supply chain has gone to pot over the festive whatsit. Cheers George
  5. Hello Just finished reading 'The Nine Tailors', (again), which as I said a long time ago was the inspiration for the layout name. Always a good read at this time of the year. Happy New Year. Cheers George
  6. Hello Sorry Steve I must have missed it in the general chaos around here but here is my belated reply. The water in the Middle Drain on Fenchurch is indeed by Deluxe Materials and is called Solid Water. Basically a two part resin and hardener, easy to use, sets in a few hours. The reeds are stuck in place first with some of the green material being added after the 'water' has set. The ripples are also from Deluxe Materials and is called Making Waves. It is a bit like PVA Glue , just brush it on and make the ripples, again it sets overnight. Make sure your river/canal bed is sealed tight or it will run out, if there's a gap it will find it. You also need to paint the bed with an appropriate colour before putting the resin in . Hope this helps. Cheers George
  7. Hello Richard you will always be my star operator and friend. A DVD is but fleeting fame but the live performances are what people will always remember. Don't be led astray by offers of chairs ,remember we have matting, although you did have to get that yourself didn't you . Not to worry it was worth it. If it is any consolation I didn't get a changing room, or flowers, or champagne, just the reflective glow of being in the same shot as John, the Tom Hanks of Railway modelling. Again Season's Greetings. Cheers George
  8. Hello Richard, fortunately for him, managed to find a reason not to be there which left only John and I to make fools of ourselves. Cheers George
  9. Hello Thank-you Mick. Happy Christmas and New Year to you. It's too much back to the future for me but at least we get there in the end... not all the posts are irrelevant are they? Cheers George
  10. Hello Fenchurch St Peter is now out and featured in the February BRM. Funny as it's not even Christmas yet. Also is featured on the DVD, that should give people nightmares. Cheers George
  11. Hello ABTG! Ha I get it now, silly old me. Cheers George
  12. Hello Thanks from me as well, glad you like it. As John says your kind comments are much appreciated. Cheers George
  13. Hello My turn now I think before I get more humpty. Greetings to both of you fine fellows. Just gotta take a bow. Cheers George
  14. Hello Sorry for the delay in replying but I had a fall and broke my left hand. Getting the use back a bit and can now use a keyboard,(sort of). The sound comes complete in our loco from Suttons Locomotive Works and as you say it is as good as it gets. There is a thread on here about or you can go straight to their website. The speaker is two mobile phone speakers, can't remember who did the sound file. The sound in the units and the other locos was supplied by Kev Dickerson of Coastal DCC. Top man. Cheers George
  15. Hello Apologies for my error that is the one, opposite the remains of the dogtrack. Friday evening was the longest journey but as has been said any journey is a nightmare. We had an excellent Chine0se takeaway delivered on the Saturday night. Looking forward to being there next year with Towcester. Cheers George
  16. Hello In the past accommodation has been at the Travel-lodge on the North circular road at Walthamstow. we are there next year so I assume it will be the same. Takes between 15 and 45 minutes depending on the time of day and the traffic. Cheers George
  17. Hello We could run sand traffic that way I suppose, I would need to find out what type of wagons they used in the 60s. I don't know of any other books. There are a few sources on the internet but the best and most informative source to me was the TVP DVD 'Branches Across East Anglia'. John, Richard and I will be at Warley/NEC next weekend with Fenchurch so hope to seesome of you there. Cheers George
  18. Hello Ben I do have the Ian Allen book and yes I have seen the picture though it was the Andrew Ingram picture that provided me with the most inspiration as it was taken in 1967 which is the year the layout is set in. There will be a few more wagons featuring in the freights in future just to add a bit more variety and we have managed to make bit more space in the stock boxes. Nothing exotic just a little change from so many 12T vans. Cheers George
  19. Hello Yes that is the picture. I have no idea what 3L28 was. if it was an ECS working then presumably it had been a timetable train on the outward journey. It doesn't really matter does it, after all we are talking about a model railway based on a fairly obscure location 50 years ago. we try to make it as authentic as possible but at the end of the day we are in the entertainment business; just another branch of showbiz. Cheers George
  20. Hello I also have a picture taken in Wisbech in 1967 with a Brush Type2 and 2 Mk1s. Good enough evidence for us to run them. Variety is the spice of life on a layout. . As Richard says we assume it is a substitution for a failed DMU. I have also corrected the TOPs codes on the vanwides. the layout features on the front cover of the Showguide for Warley Exhibition. Another first for us. Cheers George
  21. Hello Well spotted Ben. The problem is that some of the vans are used on three layouts one of which, Fenchurch, is pretops, I think we shall have to rebrand a few specifically for Fenchuch, these being the vans that arrive with fertilizer or animal feed. It will not matter on Towcester as they could still have pretops numbering on them in 1977. The other layout that uses them is Bedlam Heath but that only has one more show to do so is not a problem. Another little job for the cold winter nights. Glad you liked the layout anyway and thanks to every-one else who came to see it. See you at Warley next. Cheers George
  22. Hello John, Richard and I will be taking Fenchurch to High Wycombe Exhibition next weekend where we look forward to seeing friends old and new. Also the layout will be appearing in BRM early next year and will be featured in one of the DVDs. Cheers George
  23. Hello Thank-you very much, Glad you like it. Cheers George
  24. Hello Don't worry Richard we are saving for the next shows, we love you dearly. Thank-you Dave for your invaluable help, where would we be without you. Answers on a postcard please. Cheers George
