  1. Hello Great day out. Thanks to the Define Crew for putting on such a wonderful event. Thanks to Richard for letting me play with his Trainset. Hope to be there next year. Cheers George

  4. Hello I see on the website that Georgemas Jct is still shown as attending. Unfortunately we shall not be able to attend this year but are hoping to return at a later date. Cheers George
  5. Hello Thanks to Keith for inviting us, good show with every-one looking after us and making us welcome. Fenchurch ran like a dream with only the odd operating error by me. Perhaps I will get better at it one day. Once again thank-you for having us there and I'm glad that so much money was raised for a very good cause. Cheers George
  6. Hello Thanks for the kind words Eddie look forward to seeing you. The layout is different from when you last saw it. Not scenically but operationally. Cheers George

  8. Hello Thank-you Michael. See you in a few weeks time. By the way has the leaky roof been fixed? Cheers George
  9. Hello Following on my from my comment that Georgemas Jct had been omitted from the Model Rail Scotland list of layouts I see today that it has now been added. Thank-you. Shame about the spelling though; it is Georgemas not Gorgemas. It is in Scotland, it is a real place, it is the most northerly junction in Britain. Never mind, at least we are coming. Cheers George
  10. Hello For any-one who is interested Georgemas Jct will be returning to Model Rail Scotland 2018 where it debuted seven years ago. It is not however showing on the list of layouts on the web-site though they are aware of the omission. Flying under the radar to an exhibition venue near you. See you next month. Cheers George
  11. Hello Mike we fix the admission charge as low as possible. £3 is so cheap it might as well be free but we just want to cover our costs. Anything left over is given to a charity of our choice. We are putting on a get together for friends and fellow enthusiasts not competing with the NEC. Cheers George ( another OAP)

  16. Hello Just get on with it and stop talking so much. See you on Saturday. Cheers George
  17. Hello Most of the blues on the layout are the Haig branded version though a few have had the boards removed. They used to belong to the late Keith Wright and were bought when his extensive stock was dispersed. I feel very proud to have them and to continue to see them running. Fenchurch will be out next on 11th and 12th of November at Spalding which is about as close as you can get to Middle Drove which was the inspiration for the layout. If you come along please say hello. Cheers George
  18. Hello Towcester will be appearing at the Alsager Show in Crewe on November 4th and 5th. Cheers George
  19. Hello I only picked up on this today but Ken Harris the well known railway photographer has died. I never met him but I always admired his work especially in the Janes' series of the 1980s and 90s. Another good man gone I'm afraid. Cheers George
  20. Hello For any-one who is interested Fenchurch St Peter will be at the Bury St Edmunds Model Railway exhibition this coming Saturday. Please say hello. Cheers George
  21. Hello When empty the chocks were tied to the rail on each side of the wagon about halfway along. Cheers George
  22. Hello My good friend John Dedman has a new book out which is, as the title says, about traction types,( and traffic), in the North East from 1980 to the present day. The book is published by Amberley Press and costs £14 99. The book features two pictures per page, mainly in colour, though with a few B&W pictures near the front with short but concise captions with each photo which are informative and interesting. Most of the pictures are by John but there are a few form friends to fill in gaps. The book is in chronological order and covers the area from Doncaster in the south to Blyth in the North and Leeds in the west to Immingham in the east. As well as pictures of traffic flows there are a number of photos taken in long closed depots such as Thornaby, Frodingham, Knottingley and Sunderland. This is the latest in John's series of books on various types of freight and different areas and I heartily recommend it to any-one interested in this interesting part of the world. cheers George
  23. Hello Richard, John and I will be there with Towcester. John will go for a lie down on Sunday so Simon will take over as super sub. Say hello any-one who's passing. Cheers George
  24. Hello Towcester will be appearing at the Soar Valley MRC Exhibition on September 2/3 2017 Cheers George
